When she was sixteen, her father left her behind after her mother died of an 'animal attack'. Everyone in Mystic Falls knows what that actually means. Despite being a teenager, Carter was capable of taking care of herself.
She mostly kept to herself until her best friend Bonnie found out she was a witch. Carter was sucked further down the rabbit hole of supernatural disasters and found herself working side by side with the very creatures she was supposed to hunt
