Feelings Revealed

~*~*~Laina's POV~*~*~

As the nurse walks in with Charles and Rover, I explode with joy inside. I thought he'd left me and been angry.

Instead of showing my joy from seeing him, I quickly decide to coo over Rover. "You brought Rover!" I cry with joy as I pick him up and snuggle him tightly. From the corner of my eyes, I see Charles sit down with a blank expression.

What's he thinking? What's he feeling?

"Soo, I'm sorry..." I say as I look down ashamed of what a scene I'd made.

He looks up, expression still blank. "Yeah, the nurse told me. Its alright... I just...never mind."

Ugh...finish you sentence! "What?"

"No, you wouldn't care. It's alright," he replies.

"No, what were you gonna say? Whatever it is, I'm sure I'd love to hear it."

"How do you know?"

"Because I just know."

"Fine, I just think that maybe next time someone saves your life, you wouldn't start yelling at them right away...ya know? It hurts when I saved you, for obvious reasons, and you don't have any gratitude." His words hit me like a brick.

I instantly realize what he just said was entirely true. "I'm sorry... I'm just not used to people caring..."

"Well... I do care!" He semi-screams.

"But, why? Why do you care so much when no one else does?"

"I don't know..." he sinks back into his chair and mutters something to himself.

"What?" I ask.

He mutters again in reply.

"Just say it," I urge him.

"Because I kind of sort of love you..." his face becomes red as I feel mine go white.

He loves me? No...no, no ,no.... this isn't good. He can't love me. I'm sure he didn't mean that. Does he know who he's talking to?

I nervously laugh. "Hehe, yeah sure. I love you, too. Totally." I eye him cautiously as he looks as if I'd just stabbed him in his weakest spot. "Y-you meant it?"

He nods.

Fuck. He can't love me. I feel like I'm in that Fault In Our Stars movie.
