When Love Isn't Loved

When paternal love is never found,

And maternal love is fading away.

When brotherly love is hurting,

It's possible to lose your way.

I'm in this dark room, all alone,

I touch around me but only find air.

I have been walking for hours,

But they don't seem to care.

I have been crying rivers for years,

With no stopping in sight.

The hurt never faded away,

But I was still okay.

I stood back up every time,

I fought but to no avail.

I tried to have my place,

Knowing I would fail.

I knew what I saw was the truth,

When I looked at my reflection.

I could hide all I wanted,

But it would show, the rejection.

I was alone when I grew up,

Damaged beyond repair.

When I was bullied, hated,

Nobody was there.

The first tooth, the first day of school,

Even the first parental consultation.

They were never there for me,

Leaving me till the point of starvation.

The monsters under my bed,

I welcomed their existence.

The darkness was comforting,

But widened the emotional distance.

When paternal love hurts,

And maternal love is numb.

When brotherly love is crying,

You don't just stick up your thumb.

It scars you forever.
