Chapter 26:Forgiveness is Key

~Skips ahead 2 months~
Kai's POV
*We are a week away from our wedding. Today Dwayne and I were doing a cake testing at the local bakery. My mom was watching the kids for us. The professional baker/chef brought out 5 different samples for us to try.*
Convo-
Me- before I try any of these what kind are they?
Chef Mario- well the one that's sitting in front of you is a chocolate chip marble cake. The one next to that is a triple lemon cake with a lemon buttercream frosting, the one in the middle is a chocolate raspberry swirl, the one next to that is a carrot cake, and the one on the end is a coffee cake with a caramel drizzle and toffee pieces on top
*I took a bite of all of the cakes. They were all good but I really liked the chocolate raspberry swirl and the triple lemon cake. They were both rich in taste and very moist.*
Chef Mario- so what do you think?
Me- I like the chocolate raspberry swirl and the triple lemon cake
Dwayne- well I like the chocolate raspberry swirl and the coffee cake
Me- alright Dwayne you can pick which cake you want
Dwayne- okay well I really like the chocolate raspberry swirl so I pick that one
Chef Mario- great choice now when do you need this?
Dwayne- by next Tuesday because we're getting married at 2:30 that afternoon
Mario- okay no problem I'll have it ready by then
Us- thank you Mario
Him- no problem see you guys next week
*We left the bakery and headed to my mom's house to pick up the kids. When we pulled up outside all we heard was yelling so Dwayne parked the car while I hopped out. I used my key to open the door and walked inside. What I saw made my blood boil. My mom and dad were arguing and my mom had a black eye and a busted lip and she was lying on the ground clutching her side. Plus the triplets were in the playpen screaming their lungs out.*
Convo-
Me-HEY!!! *they stopped and looked at me.* what the hell is going on in here?
Dad- your mom and I got into an argument
Me- I see that now why does she have a black eye and a busted lip? And don't you lie to me about it either
Dad- I punched her
Me- why?
Him- heat of the moment
Me- don't give me that bullshit excuse now why did you hit her and what were y'all arguing about?
Him- she challenged my authority and because she was talking to another man
Me- so you think that gives you the right to put your hands on her?
Him- hey watch who you're talking to lil girl
Me- man whatever I'm leaving and I'm taking mom with me
Him- oh no you're not
Me- watch me
*I went and got the triplets and handed them to Dwayne so he could put them in the car then I went upstairs to my old room and got MJ and Damien. I got them in the car then I went and got my mom. She couldn't even walk straight because she was in pain so I picked her up and carried her to the car. Then Dwayne and I headed upstairs to pack my moms bag. My dad tried to grab my arm and stop me but Dwayne punched him and he was out like a light. I finished packing the bag then I grabbed my purse and my mom's purse and got into the truck. I let my mom sit up front with Dwayne while I sat in the middle row with Damien and MJ. Then the triplets sat in the third row. 15 minutes later we pulled up to my house. Dwayne got the kids out for me while I helped my mom. I took her stuff up to the guest room which is two doors down from my room. She followed me and sat down on the bed and started crying. I grabbed a rag and dried her face.*
Convo-
Me- come on mom don't cry now tell me what happened
Her(sniffling)- well I was downstairs watching the triplets when my phone rang. It was Luther a guy that I've been seeing ever since your dad said that he wanted a divorce. So we were talking on the phone when your dad came in drunk as hell. So he snatched the phone out of my hand and threw it against the wall. Then we started arguing. He was like "are you cheating on me?" I was like "no he's just a friend" then he hit me twice and kicked me in my ribs and a few minutes later that's when you walked in
Me- damn I'm sorry that happened to you. Why don't you lie down and take a nap? I'll bring you some ice and food later
Her- okay thank you Kai
Me- you know I always got you mama
*I closed the door and went downstairs to check on the kids. The triplets were sleeping in their cribs and MJ and Damien were playing in the game room. Dwayne was sitting in the living room watching tv. I sat beside him and he pulled me on his lap.*
Convo-
Him- babe are you okay?
Me- honestly no because my dad knows better than that plus he hit her in front of our kids. I don't like that shit at all. I oughta have his ass arrested for that
Him- calm down
Me- no Dwayne I won't calm down what if that was your mom and dad? Then what? It hurts to see my mom like that. I'm not going to allow him to hit her again. I'll let her live with us first before I do that
Him- I understand that sweetie but calm down your heart is racing and your blood pressure is skyrocketing. I don't need anything happening to you
Me- I'm sorry it's just that I'm worried about her. I don't want her to go through that
Him- I understand
Me- thank you Dwayne
Him- for what?
Me- for listening to me and keeping me sane
Him- no problem you're welcome baby
*I was starting to get sleepy so I moved off of Dwayne's lap and headed upstairs to our room.*
Him- where are you going?
Me- upstairs I'm getting sleepy
Him- want me to carry you?
Me- yes please
*He carried me upstairs to our room. He placed me on the bed and laid next to me. He wrapped his arms around me as I laid my head on his chest listening to his steady heartbeat as I began to fall asleep.*
~A few hours later~
*I had just woken up but I didn't feel Dwayne next to me so I got up and went to my mom's room but she wasn't there so I headed downstairs to the kitchen and there they were. Dwayne was standing over the stove cooking and my mom was sitting at the island playing with DJ.*
Convo-
Me- what you cooking babe?
Him- shrimp Alfredo with cheddar bay biscuits
Me- ooh sounds good so how you feeling mommy?
Her- I feel a lil better thanks sweetie
Me- no problem
*10 minutes later the food was done and I fixed my plate, Dwayne's plate, and mommy's plate. After we said grace I dug in. This pasta was really good Dwayne can cook better than me.*
Me- Dwayne this is really good you can cook better than me
Him- I don't know about all that but thank you I try
Me- yeah you need to start cooking for me more often
Him- okay I will
~Skips ahead 1 week~
*OMG it's my wedding day. Today is the day that I marry the love of my life. I haven't seen him in two days and it's killing me. My mom did my makeup and hair while Terri helped me get into my dress. Dwayne's mom came by earlier and picked the kids up so I didn't have to worry about them. Just as we were getting ready to leave the doorbell rang. I answered the door and in walked my dad who had on a black tuxedo with a turquoise bow tie.*
Convo-
Me- dad what are you doing here?
Him- I came to ask you to forgive me and to ask if I can still walk you down the aisle?
Me- dad I forgive you we'll talk about this later but now I need to go and get married
Him- lead the way
*We went outside and got into the limo. The driver took us to the church and my bodyguards escorted us in. I went to the dressing room for the last finishing touches on my makeup. As soon as I finished my dad walked in.*
Convo-
Him- you ready sweetheart?
Me- yeah I am lets go
*I put the veil over my face as I proceed to get ready to walk down the aisle.*
Narrator's POV
*The bridesmaids walked in one by one with the groomsmen. The flower girl who was Layla's daughter Deja walked down the aisle spreading flowers everywhere. Finally the time has come for the bride to walk in. The piano player began to play Maxwell Fortunate as the bride walks down the aisle with her father. The bride finally reaches the groom. She lets go of her fathers hands as he kissed her on the forehead. She joins hands with her soon to be husband as the pastor begins the ceremony.*
Convo-
Pastor Brown- who gives this woman away?
Angela and Marcus- we do
Pastor- Ladies and Gentlemen we are gathered here today to celebrate the unification of marriage by these two individuals Miss Kyra Deshawn Jackson and Mr Dwayne Antrell Smith If there is anyone who believes that this man shouldn't be joined with this woman speak now or forever hold your peace.
??- I object
*Everyone turned around to see a woman in the back standing up with the meanest frown on her face heading towards the alter.*
Dwayne- Christina what are you doing here?
Kai- wait Dwayne you know her?
Dwayne- yes this is my ex Christina we broke up years ago
Christina- Dwayne I miss you and I love you. You can't marry her
Dwayne- why can't I?
Christina- because I had your daughter
Dwayne- I have enough kids don't pin your baby on me now if you'll excuse me I need to get married. SECURITY!
*In 5 minutes three bodyguards came running and escorted that crazy lady out. After she left the pastor continued with the ceremony.*
Pastor- now that's over. Let's continue. Marriage symbolizes long term commitment with your spouse and God. It's time for you to recite your vows. Dwayne you go first
Dwayne- wow words can't explain how much I love you Kai. When I met you it was love at first sight. It took a lot of pleading and patience but I finally got you to be with me. I can truly say that I'm the happiest man alive right now. You are my best friend and my lover. You gave me the greatest gift any man could ask for and that was my kids. I love you forever and always
Kai- Dwayne I can't even express how much I love you. You gave me a chance at love again. When we met I was so broken up inside but you stood with me  and repaired my broken heart. I can never thank you enough for that. We have three beautiful kids together who are my pride and joy. Thank you Dwayne for loving me and caring for me. You are just right for me. I love you with all my heart
Pastor- now that they've exchanged vows I need the rings
*Damien stepped forward and handed the rings to the pastor. The pastor then hands the rings to Kai and Dwayne.*
Pastor- Do you Kyra, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband to have and to cherish him; before God and everyone else to love and honor him, through richer or poorer til death do you part?
Kai- I do
Pastor- Do you Dwayne, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife to have and to cherish her; before God and everyone else, through richer or poorer til death do you part?
Dwayne- I do
Pastor- now by the power vested in me and the state of Georgia I pronounce you man and wife you may kiss your bride
*Kai and Dwayne kiss as everyone begins to clap.*
Pastor- ladies and gentlemen I present to you Mr and Mrs Dwayne Antrell Smith
Dwayne's POV
*Wow words can't explain how I feel right now. I finally married my baby. This is the second greatest day of my life. Watching my kids being brought into this world was first. After our wedding we headed over to the country club for the reception. I made myself and Kai a plate. We had grilled chicken, ribs, green beans, Mac and cheese, salad, baked beans, and rolls. While we were eating the maid of honor(Terri) and the best man(Gabe) wanted to say a few words.*
Convo-
Terri- attention everyone I would like to say a few words about the bride and groom. Kai bestfriend it's about time I thought you would never get married. But congratulations I love you guys and I wish you guys the best. Dwayne brother in law don't hurt my sister but y'all two are made for each other. I hope I get another niece soon too lol
Kai- Terri you funny I'm not having any more kids
Dwayne- yeah right you're having about 2 more
Kai- 😐
Gabe- anyways congratulations guys Kai bestfriend you know I love you but I'm coming over this weekend to beat you in pool and in 2k so get ready. Dwayne be good to her I love you guys
Dwayne- y'all two sure know how to liven up the party
Kyle(Kai's brother)- congrats sis I love you. Imma drop the twins off at your house this weekend so you can spend time with them
Kaleb(Kai's other brother)- congrats sis and Dwayne do you have a younger but hot sister?
Kai- shut up Kaleb
Kaleb- don't hate the player hate the game sis
Kai- boy quit
Angela- anyways my baby girl finally got married I'm so happy for you. I wish you guys the best
Marcus- baby girl congratulations I'm happy for you
Rochelle- wow I gained an awesome daughter in law congratulations you guys
Daniel Sr- my youngest son finally got married congrats you guys I wish you the best
*After everyone finished talking it was time for Kai and I to have our first dance as husband and wife. I grabbed her hand and led her to the dance floor.  The song Sweet Lady by Tyrese came on. I sung to her as we swayed to the music.*
Convo-
Kai- you're the best thing that's ever happened to me you know that right?
Dwayne- I know that now and the same goes for you
*After our dance we headed home and started packing for our honeymoon to Jamaica. We're leaving in two days.*
~Skips Ahead 2 days~
Kai's POV
*Dwayne and I were getting ready to go to the airport for our trip to Jamaica. I had all our bags packed and I had already took the kids to Dwayne's moms house while we're gone for the week. Dwayne put the luggage in the car and then we drove to the airport. We boarded our plane and sat back and enjoyed the ride. 5 hours later we arrived in Kingston Jamaica. We checked into the hotel and then went sightseeing. We went to emancipation park and took lots of pictures. After we left there we went shopping and bought some Jamaican scarves, and shirts. Then we headed back to the room.*
Convo-
Dwayne- babe I know that you're tired from the flight so take a nap and I'll wake you up in a few hours plus I have plans for us later on
Me- okay
*I crawled into the bed and sleep instantly came over me.*
~A few hours later~
*I had just woken up and I didn't see Dwayne anywhere. I just saw a dress and some heels sitting on the edge of the bed and a note from Dwayne. It said "I'm taking you out tonight so get dressed and Javier will drive you around. Love Dwayne." I freshened up and put on the dress and heels. The dress accentuated my curves. After I got dressed I grabbed my clutch purse and headed out. Javier was standing outside by a stretch limo. He opened my door and let me in.*
Convo-
Me- hi Javier
Him- hi mrs smith how are you?
Me- I'm good thanks for asking how are you?
Him- I'm doing well
Me- so where are we going?
Him- Mr Smith told me not to tell you so I can't
Me- okay fine
*Javier pulled up to this beautiful restaurant near the water. I saw Dwayne standing near a table with roses in his hands. When I walked up to him he handed me the flowers and kissed me.*
Convo-
Him- wow babe you look beautiful
Me- thank you you look handsome
Him- come on and sit down I had the chef prepare this meal for us
Me- okay
*He pulled my chair out and I sat down. He sat down across from me as the chef brought out our food. It was jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage, and a gizzada pastry. I ate a bite of the chicken and it was so good. Spicy but just right. I really loved all the food.*
Dwayne- so what do you think?
Me- I love it thank you
Dwayne- no problem babe you know I got you
Me- feed me some of that dessert please?
Him- sure
*He grabbed the spoon and fed me some of the pastry. It was so good and really sweet too. After we ate Javier drove us back to the hotel. Dwayne carried me to the bedroom and y'all know what happened next 😉🤗.
~The next day~
*I just woke up to see my handsome husband coming in the room with a tray of food. It was ackee and saltfish, seasoned callaloo, boiled green bananas, and fried dumplings. Ackee is a fruit, salt fish is cod fish and callaloo is a stew. The ackee had a tangy taste to it but it was still good. The salt fish was good but just a little dry and salty. The callaloo was good too. He sat the tray in front of me as I began to eat.*
Convo-
Me- babe this food is so good I really need to learn how to make it
Him- what food do you like the most?
Me- I really like the jerk chicken the most. It was spicy but really good wbu?
Him- I liked the rice and peas along with the jerk chicken
Me- so what do you have planned for the day?
Him- well I figured that you might be sore from last night so I ran you a bath then I guess we can just stay in bed and relax. You know and watch movies
Me- that sounds like a good idea but come shower with me I'm ready for round two
Him- ooh naughty girl but I like it come on
*After I finished eating I headed to the bathroom. Dwayne stripped me down and we hopped into the shower. He penetrated me with no warning. He started out slow. "Don't tease me go faster." He pinned me against the wall and sped up. I moaned and it was music to his ears. When he thrusted all the way in I screamed his name and that just made him go even harder. I dug my nails into his back and drew blood while he leaned in to kiss me. "Slow down Dwayne I'm bout to cum." "I am too cum with me." After we came together we took a shower and then we watched movies and chill for the rest of the day.*
~Skips ahead to the weekend~
*Today is the day that we leave Jamaica. I didn't want to go but I had too plus I missed my babies. We boarded the plane and prepared for takeoff. While we were flying back home I fell asleep and didn't wake back up until we got home. We put our luggage in the house and headed to Dwayne's parents house to pick up the kids. When we got there the door was slightly ajar so we walked in and saw the house completely destroyed. There was a note sitting on the living room table. It said "if you want your kids back then come to the old chop shop on 13th street. Bring Dwayne with you and if you don't then I'll kill all of them. I showed Dwayne the note and his eyes turned black. It's like a totally different side of him. He didn't say anything just walked passed me and pressed a button on the wall. That opened a secret compartment in the wall. We walked through it and there were guns, vests, money, and ammo down there. I picked up a 9mm, a revolver, and a pocket knife. Then I put on a vest under my shirt. Dwayne grabbed a shotgun, a desert eagle, and a taser. Then he put on a vest underneath his shirt. He drove to the chop shop as I silently prayed that my family will walk away from this safely. Dwayne pulled up to the shop and we got out. We walked in and were instantly tackled to the ground by two big ass bodyguards. They searched us and took my 9 and Dwayne's shotgun but didn't think to double check us for any more weapons. Dwayne pulled out his taser and tazed the first bodyguard while I pulled out my knife and stabbed the second one in the stomach repeatedly. Once they were down we went further into the building until I heard the loud cries of the triplets. I headed toward the sound and saw Christina holding my children and my mother in law at gunpoint. We walked in guns drawn.*
Convo-
Christina- put your guns down and slide them over here or I start shooting
*We put our guns down and gave them to her.*
Dwayne- Christina why are you doing this?
Her- because Dwayne I want you back and she's in my way along with her bastard children
Dwayne- get it through your head Christina I don't want you I married Kai and she's the mother of my kids. And don't you ever call my kids bastards
Her- fine then if I can't have you then no one can
*She points her gun at Dwayne and was about to pull the trigger when I threw my knife at her hand. She screamed out in pain and dropped the gun. I walked over to her and began to beat her ass. I beat her until she was unrecognizable. Then I grabbed my knife and slit her throat. After I had taken care of her I called the clean up crew and had them get her lifeless body out of there. I wiped her blood off my hands and checked on my kids and mother in law.*
