"Maybe later." Alyssa smiles, slightly shrugging him off of her.
"Alright, great." He then whispers something into Alyssa's ear which makes her blush before saying giving me a quick later and walking off.
I raise my eyebrow at her as she looks at me with a bright red face.
"He seems nice.." I say sarcastically.
"Yeah, very." She responds, quickly sipping her drink. "Do you want to dance?" Alyssa recovers, her face returning to it's original color.
"I don't know, maybe later." I joke, mocking her.
"Oh shut up," She scoffs "And come on, this is a big party. We have to dance."
"Speaking of this party, you never told me whose party this is exactly." I murmur, sipping quietly on the punch.
"Oh um," She tilts her head up a little, looking out among the crowd of teenagers dancing before turning towards me. "I can't even remember. It was one of Finn's friends. He always used to come over at our old house but I rarely see him anymore. His name was Evan or something like that." Her face contorts into a focused look, like she's trying hard to remember something.
"Wait no, not Evan, like Elliot.. no that's not it. God- it was something with an E. Eric.. Wait! Ethan! That's it!" Her face lights up like a lightbulb.
My throat instantly goes dry despite the punch I just swallowed. The feeling I've so successfully avoided for the past couple of weeks sprung back, growing in my stomach.
"He goes to your school so you probably know him." She shrugs. My eyes look around frantically, as I set down my cup on the counter. I was inside of his house. My feet began to burn, as if the ground I stood on was on fire. I wanted to run so badly out of the house, but one look at Alyssa and her excited face made me put myself aside. She wanted to come here so badly. I couldn't just leave at the mention of his name, besides, Alyssa drove me here and there was no way she would drive me home without a super good excuse.
Maybe I wouldn't even see him here. Even though it is his house, the interior was extremely large and felt like a mansion. There was tons of people here too so what were the odds of him finding us?
"Do you know him?" Alyssa nudges me.
"Um, I-I-" I guess I spoke to soon.
"Hey! Finn's little sister! Alyssa!" Ethan's voice cuts me off. He walks over to us swaying, seeming half drunk. I snap my head down, staring at my heels hoping my hair blocked my face well enough.
He grabs Alyssa by the waist and pulls her into a half hug.
"Hi Ethan!" She greets him. They make small talk for a few minutes as I stand there awkwardly, slowly distancing myself away from the two.
"Who is your friend over there?" I hear Ethan shout over the loud music.
"Oh! I almost forgot! Ethan, this is Grace. Grace, Ethan." Alyssa introduces us, pulling me closer to her. Ethan looks up in surprise at the sound of my name and stares at me with a devilish look. His grin is set on his face and I can feel the smugness radiating off of him.
"Nice to meet you." He sticks his hand out right in front of me, acting clueless towards who I was.
I flinch, but Alyssa doesn't notice it. The thought of even touching his hand willingly makes bile rise up in my throat. He just stands there, his blonde hair hanging in front of his cold blue eyes, his clothes wrinkled and sweat stained, shaking his hand out in front of me. I don't make movement to shake his, so instead Alyssa smiles politely at him and pulls my hand into Ethan's.
