Telling Blake hadn't been easy, in fact it was one of the hardest things I have had to do while working for his father. I knew that after the court hearings he had been participating in he wasn't doing so well. Always showing up home late at night smelling of alcohol and nookie.

What was I supposed to do? I knew his father wouldn't tell him. I knew that no one he knew would possibly know. I had to be the one. I was gutted, on the verge of honking up my late dinner last night. It took me days of walking around that house to bring up the courage. I think him not coming home that night is what threw me over the edge to tell him.

“Something terrible has happened to your mum.” Oh the look in his eye at just that sentence was enough to break my heart. Dakota stood back, I was glad he had his mate there with him. He was going to need someone strong to be there for him.

He was holding me close, the warmth of his embrace was making this slightly easier to tell him. He wasn't pressuring me to talk right away. He could tell that I was struggling to get it all out. I knew he was dying to know. The look in his eyes had told me so shooting blue shards of ice towards me as he waited.

I leaned into him father. Pressing my face against his hard chest. He pulled me away gently, once again shooting me with his eyes. “Victoria tell me.” his voice was deep and raspy. If I hadn't been a wimp I would have thought he was giving me that voice for a different reason. I looked at the floor, I couldn't look him in the eyes and tell him.

“Something happened with your mum.” I said in the smallest voice I ever heard escape my lips. This wasn't me. I wasn't the sad girl who cried. I was Victoria Watson.

“You said that already” his voice was growing angry. I had never seen Blake angry and now wasn't the time to start. He had come home bloodied and beaten before, I washed his cuts and made sure that he didn't get any infections.

Dakota took a step closer to his mate. Knowing that in his mind things could get really bad in an instant. I looked up at Blake, every muscle in his body was tightened. He was holding both his fists at his waist his knuckles white. The smell of liquor was strong I knew that he was hungover and I was the last thing he wanted to deal with.

“She was fancying paying you a visit. She was hoping that if she could talk to you she could make you see that she had changed. She has, bloody hell she went to rehab and is fighting to get you back.” His jaw tightened, if he tightened it anymore I thought all his teeth were soon going to fall out.

“Go on,” he said not releasing his teeth from there tight grip. “Well when she boarded off the plane I had someone to great her, to take her to the hotel that your father gladly paid for. A few hours later I got a ring. She was throwing up all over Vince's car. Blood was coming up. He rushed her to the hospital.”

He was growing impatient I wasn't talking fast enough. Giving him to many details. He took a step closer to me and filled the gap that was between us. If I thought his eyes were hurting me before nothing beat what he was sending me now. Dakota took two steps closer, he was close enough now to reach out and touch Blake.

“The hospital report came back that she was in fact plastered. She had done something on the plane and was just now feeling the effects. What ever she had done on the plane she had done too much of it. It was her first visit out of the rehab in years. Her body wasn't used to the drugs being in her system anymore.”

He reached his hand out and slapped me. My hands instantly went to the tingling on my cheek. Tears sprung from my eyes and I fell to the floor. As much as everyone had wanted Blake to see his mum no one did. Everyone was scared to tell him in fear he wouldn't like it. Obviously that was the case

“I don't care about that woman who claims to be my mom. She gave birth to me and I swear that was the only good thing about her. Other than that I could care less how she ends up.” I knew he wasn't lying. His mum was a touchy subject for him, but bloody hell did he have to go and hit me?Blake stormed off and out the door. I heard his truck roar to life and leave quickly down the street. Dakota stood in shock, quickly realizing what happened I found him at my side standing me up.

“You didn't have to tell him you know. I know no one else would have.” his voice was small and his touch was gentle. I had always really liked Dakota, where Blake lacked concern for others Dakota greatly made up for it.

“Its his mum, I figured he had a right to know.”

“You did the right thing, but I just don't think you should have. Would Colton have told him?”

“No.” he sat me down at the counter and walked briskly to the fridge, pulling out an ice pack he cracked it and handed it to me.

“Dakota is he all right?”

“No I don't think so. But you know Blake he will never tell me.”

“The last time he had seen his mum wasn't the day they left her. She showed up here looking for help while he was still a little bloke.” this ice pack stung but helped against the hot sting of Blake's slap. “She saw Blake and ran up to him. Hugging him. In her purse she had more drugs. Colton had invited her in, saying he would feed her because she looked hungry like she hadn't eaten in days. At the dinner table she left. Blake went to go find her. He found her in the bathroom getting plastered. She offered him the pipe of whatever it was and he flipped out. He was gone for a week. “

I knew Dakota remembered that time. He was here every day looking for him. Dakota nodded and gave me a weary look. He knew what I was getting at.

“Is this why Colton left? Because he didn't want to see his ex?”

“Yeah.” I took the ice pack off and played with it. Crunching the bunches of ice inside until it was more like a slushy.

“I know where he went last time. He told me when he got back. But I was told to not tell anyone. I bet he's going back.”

“Lets let him cool down. He's still all wonky. He just heard that his mum wanted to see him and is trying to fight for him back. Not that that means he can go and be a wanker to me about it.”

Dakota knew I was right. “Wanna go play some Call of Duty?” his smile was one to remember. It always had distracted me from what ever was going on. I knew it was more of a smirk than a smile but I wasn't about to let my hopes down. “Race you to the basement!” we took off running.

He had beat me, I knew he would. “I let you win” I teased giving him a glance.

“Yeah right. Don't “let me” beat you at video games.” he laughed and I watched him grow excited. It was like his mate hadn't just slapped me across the face.

Dakota handed me a controller and turned on the big flat screen. Down here was where everyone spent there time. Not in the highly decorated room upstairs.

“So tell me Victoria, have you and Blake ever.” he paused staring at me. I know I had a confused look on my face. Where was he going with this? “Ever what Dakota?”

“Ever well you know. Bumped uglies? Had sex?”

My face lit up and I could feel my cheeks blushing.

“Ah, so you have."

“Why Dakota?”

“Well at first I thought that he treated you the way he does because you wouldn't give it to him. No one gets treated like you do. I swear he gets excited to see your car or hear your name. But now I know its because he actually likes you.”
