Angelica didn't mind. She was used to such reactions.
"I shall get your drinks first." He said humbly. He was about to walk away but he came back.
"Sir, may I ask you a question?" Tom nodded, gesturing that he should proceed with his question. "Is that your daughter?" he asked. Angelica, knowing that the waiter was talking about her, looked up at him.
Suddenly she found him familiar. Like she has seen him before. Not once. But many times. She just didn't find that of any importance.
"Yes... Why?" Father asked confused. Where was this leading to? "Well, I only want to say that she is a beautiful angel..." He said as he looked at her and smiled. She returned it, pleased with the compliment.
"Yeah, she is blessing in disguise..." Tom muttered. "Ok, I shall get your order..." And he walked off but before he went, a glance spared to her direction. She mouthed a thank you and he nodded with a soft smile, acknowledging her reply.
And with that she went back staring outside the window.
"Darling, your food has come!" Laura happily put the plate in front of her daughter.
Her attention now went into the food that was now in front of her and it smelt heavenly. And she dug in happily, softly purring to herself as she took the first bite and savouring the taste. It was fish and she loved it. It was made just the way she liked.
Soon she was done and she saw that her parents were taking as much of time as possible with their food as they spoke of a large variety of subjects.
For a few moments, Angelica waited impatiently and then, unable to hold the excitement any longer, she burst out.
"Mom! Can I please go to the playground? I wanna sit on the swings!" "Sure darling! But did you finish everything in your plate?" Her mother asked softly. "Yes mom! Please! Please may I go?" The kitty asked politely but she was jumping out of her seat in excitement. Her mother let out a short laugh.
"Sure dear! But be in our sight! I don't want any one taking you away from me!" She joked. Angelica promised and she skipped her way out.
When she reached the playground, she turned to the window they were sitting at and she waved. Her parents saw her waving and returned the gesture whole-heartedly. She then turned back to the playground.
She noticed that the slides, the see-saw and the monkey bars were all popular and were infested with children from different age-groups.
But the swing set was left all alone. And it was really good thing that it was left that way. She could now have it to herself.
She elegantly walked to the swings and silently sat on one and then used her legs to slowly push her back and forth. Her eyes go to her parents who were still sitting inside and chatting over a chocolate sundae.
She smiled faintly. She felt so happy for them. They were so in love. She just hoped there was nothing there that could come in between them. After all finally she had something good in her life.
Suddenly a boy, who looked like he was in the same age group as her, came and sat beside her.
Angelica found it awkward and so she didn't speak but kept moving her legs back and forth but kept her toes still in contact with the ground.
"Hey!" The boy greeted softly, moving his own seat in her pace. Angelica turned to him and pointed at herself questioningly. Me?
"Yeah! Hey, my name is Max. What's yours?" The boy asked casually. "Angelica ..." She replied softly, her eyes barely meeting his.
