Chapter 11- Oh Boy...

I stood in front of the bathroom mirror applying the last of my makeup and straightening the last bits of my hair. The butterflies in my stomach didn't help me focus one bit. Why was I so nervous? I didn't care about anything after we came home from the hospital. One of the most traumatic things happened to me less than forty eight hours ago and I'm only worried about school? Will anyone like me? Will my only friends be Alex and Paul's friends? Will everyone look at me weird after the whole thing that happened? Has Paul said anything? Is that story real? I snapped back into my thoughts when I burn my scalp from my straightener, turning my natural wavy hair as straight as a needle. I figured that was good enough for now and unplugged the flat iron.

As I was tumbling down our steep stair steps, which looked like they haven't even been touched since the late seventies, I see Alex struggling to get ready since he decided to sleep in a half hour later than usual. I watched him run around the lower half of the house like everything was going to disappear in a matter of minutes, I stood there silently laughing and hoping he wasn't going to run into me. I was happy that he was back to his normal self, he still had to wear a bandage and he couldn't do any physical activities in school, he is healing surprisingly fast for a bullet wound, but by what the doctor said, they performed surgery right on time and the wound wasn't too deep thankfully. I watched as he ran around the house, his partially buttoned shirt flapping in the wind as he ran from one end of the house to the other, his toothbrush in his mouth, his black and white Nike shoes in his left hand, his comb in the other. I giggled at the thought that this is his usual routine every year on the first day of school. I decided to sit on my a bar stool on the island in the kitchen and eat an apple; I picked up a yellow half sheet of paper that I assumed was from Mom, It read:

" I'll be home by nine tonight. Please look after your brother. Have a great first day of school, love you!

-Mom"

I shot up in alarm when I heard a truck honk on front of our house then I heard Alex call out, "Jake is taking us to school today." I decided to head out, I sat in the bed of the truck with Paul and Jesse because it was either that or in the middle in the front and it was way too hot for that this morning. As soon as I looked up from closing the door behind me, my eyes met with Paul. He only looked at me for a matter or seconds then looked away, his ocean blue eyes were dark and filled with sorrow- I want to know why. I climbed into the bed of the truck, not caring if I got any grease on my white shorts. As soon as I sat next to him he grabbed my hand and looked my in the eyes, "If anybody tells you anything, please just don't listen to them." I have to admit, I was a little shocked yet mostly angered at whatever this was, apparently it was a big deal because I haven't seen Paul this regretful since that girl slipped him her number, and he looks even worse now. As Alex runs out of the house I glance at Paul and say, "We'll talk about this later." I pull my hand away. The ride was sort of awkward in a way, I just wish I knew what he was talking about.

We arrive at the school and I jump out the back and waiting for Alex. When he finally caught up with me I started walking again. He looked at me, "Are you okay?" I nodded, "Are you sure?" I nodded again. We headed to the principals office to get our locker combinations and all that stuff since our m]school supplies were here already thankfully because of my mom.  This was going to be an interesting day.

Hey loves! I CANNOT express to you all how sorry I am for not uploading another chapter. I know that it's very short but I hope you all like it because you know, what is better to do on Christmas day anyways lol. And if anyone would like to leave recommendations or suggestions or maybe help write this... if you want that is. Just message me and I'll get back to you! - XO, Kylie
