Nothing in Between

I'm facing a lot of paperworks today. I didn't get to pick Miggy up at school because I wanted to finish everything. I don't want to wait till tomorrow. I settled with crackers and coffee for lunch. It's not that I don't have time, I don't feel like having one.
Since I spoke with Tommy that night, I felt sleepless. I was thinking of calling him but I'm anxious of what he's up to, with Miggy's involvement.
I made a few phonecalls to prepare for my presentation

"Yes Mr. Vasquez, thank you, we'll see you there, bye"

I tossed my phone on my desk and sat on my chair. I pinched the bridge of my nose as I close my eyes and leaned back

"Hey"

I opened my eyes and saw Batchi standing on my door crossed arms

"Hey"

I replied.

"You okay? You look awful"

she walked towards me

"Yeah, papers and stuff"

I sat properly and fixed the scattered papers on my desk.

"You go ahead. I'll just gonna finish this"

Batchi sat on my desk and faced me

"Tsong, you looked tensed. I believe it's not the job. Tell me, is Tommy bothering you?"

I get to hold the back of my neck and massage it

"I know you better Althea, so tell me"

"I don't know. I didn't call him yet. Batchi, I'm afraid of what he's up to. Especially he seems interested with Miggy"

"Don't worry, I'll call Uncle Stephen. He's got connections in the army. If you need something, he'll definitely say yes"

"Thanks Batchi"

"No probs"

and she placed her hand on my shoulder.

"What's with the checkpoint Althea? Is there something you wanted to tell me?"

Jade as we walk towards Miggy's room. I gave her a kiss on the cheek

"Althea, you're frickin me out"

She stopped and grabbed my hand

"I was worried with what Tommy is planning. So Batchi called your uncle to send security for Miggy. I never thought he'll send a battalion"

Jade hold my shoulders

"Are you okay? Is he threatening you?"

"We didn't talk yet since that night. Don't worry, I'm fine"

and she hugged me. I know that Jade worry too much as I worry for Miggy. I still feel that Jade is still my bestfriend that cares for me. We entered Miggy's room and he was happy to see Jade. He ran towards her and gave her a hug

"Tita Jade, I thought you're not coming. Andaming soldiers sa labas tita"

"Pwede ba akong hindi dumating? Diba nagpromise ako sayo na dito ako matutulog. Maglalaro pa tayo bukas diba?"

At nagkilitian sila. It's a beautiful scene to watch. I can't help it but watch them have their conversations

"Miggy, let Tita Jade change her clothes first"

Miggy nodded.
