AmericaxReader I Swear This Time I mean It

As you rolled around over and over, but, you just couldn’t get to sleep. You had to admit it: It just didn’t feel the same without him. ‘Him’, being Alfred Jones, your boyfriend. You and he had a huge fight. For whatever it was, you couldn’t remember for the life of you. But you knew that you had screamed at each other, and you had cried. It’s been weeks since you spoke. Now all you knew was that your bed just didn’t feel right without him in it. You sighed, and tried again to sleep with no avail.

Suddenly you heard the faint strumming of a guitar. You sat up, confused. The strumming got louder as you heard a soft and firm voice drift into your ears.

Oh, Florida, please be still tonight.

Don’t disturb this love of mine

Look how she’s so serene

You gotta help me out.

You gasped and sat up. Quickly you ran to you window, and peered out your head.

Under the street light was that idiot, known as Alfred. He had an acoustic guitar and was playing beautifully. You brought your hand to your face in shock, gasping. He looked up you, and you could see his bright blue eyes sparkling, determined. He played a bit louder and continued.

And count the stars to form the lines

And count the words we’ll sing in time,

I want to keep her dreaming.

It’s my one wish; I won’t forget this

He smiled a bit at you, bringing a blush to your face.

I’m outdated, overrated. Morning seems so far away…

He closed his eyes and sang passionately:

So I’ll sing a melody. And hope to God she’s listening, sleeping softly while I sing

And I’ll be your memories

You’re lullaby for all the times

Hoping that my voice could get it right…

You stared, wide eyed, as a blush crossed his face. Your equally red face, was stuck on his, and couldn’t let go. He played the instrumental, swaying gently. You were fighting the urge to jump out of you window and into his arms. He continued, gently.

If luck is on my side tonight, my clumsy tongue will get it right

Wrists that touch

It isn’t much, but it’s enough…

To form imaginary lines

Forget your scars, we’ll forget mine

 The hours change so fast

Oh God, please make this last…

‘Cause I’m outdated, overrated

Morning seems so far away!

So I’ll sing a melody. And hope to God she’s listening; Sleeping softly while I sing

And I’ll be your memories

Your lullaby for all the times,

Hoping that my voice could get it right…

Could get it right…

Tears sprang to your eyes, as you sucked in a breath. You could see his face turn a darker shade of red. He took a deep breath and said looking directly into your (eye color), eyes:

You could crush me…

You choked back sob as you shimmied out of your window. He walked towards you, singing softly:

Please don’t crush me…

‘Cause I’m dreamer, for sure

And I won’t let you down

He leaned in, close to you, and whispered, “I Swear This Time I Mean It…” He smiled, and sung softly, leaning his forehead against yours.

So I’ll sing a melody and hope to God she’s listening, sleeping softly while I sing

And I’ll be your memories

Your lullaby for all the times

Hoping that my voice could get it right…

He placed a hand on your cheek.”Please, (name)… Forgive me?” He smiled gently at you, hope hiding behind his glasses. Not trusting your mouth, you nodded quickly, and threw your arms around his neck. He immediately moved his guitar out of the way and hugged you back, tightly, never wanting to let go. He had missed you too. Even more than you had him. His bed felt lonely. He missed your smell, your soft breathing, everything about you. You pulled back a bit and stared into his clear eyes lovingly. He pulled you into a passionate kiss under the street lamp.
