"hello, Lana," the man said warmly, keeping some distance between the two of us. he paid no attention to the boy across the glass, who was watching the man curiously.
I scrunched my nose in distrust and eyed the man suspiciously. "how do you know my name?" I asked slowly.
"I'm a friend," he replied, not completely answering my question. "my name is Jaycen. do you remember how you got here, Lana?"
I shook my head and he nodded, trying to give me a reassuring look. "that's alright," Jaycen said. "you'll understand it all when you're ready."
"understand what? ready for what?" I asked him, desperate to find some answers.
he paused before responding, his gray eyes refusing to meet mine. "you're safe here," he finally said very slowly. "you're in good hands."
I narrowed my eyes at him, dissatisfied with his response. "what do you mean by --"
he quickly cut me off and started to walk towards the door. "I'll see you soon, Lana. stay good."
I hung my mouth open in disbelief, protesting angrily. "wait, you can't just leave -- you just got here -- please, where am -- "
the door closed with a loud slam, and he was gone before I could say anything else.
