Forbidden Romance Chapter Sixteen

Chapter Sixteen... The Future Is Bright, Thanks To My Baby (The Final Chapter)

 

Daniel woke me up at seven one morning in the last week of my pregnancy. He'd been sleeping over, and my waters had broken, which had woken him up. I don't know how it didn't wake me up, because I burst into tears once I realised.

"It's okay," he soothed. "It's good. It's just that the baby's coming, you know."

"That's why I'm crying!" I wailed. "Because I can't believe it's coming on so fast. He's gonna be here soon!"

"He will," Daniel grinned. "He will."

Daniel helped me get dressed and then mom drove us to the hospital. I was prepared to be in labour for several hours, and to have him tonight.

What I wasn't prepared for was having an hour long labour before I was fully dilated.

"You're ready to push," the doctor smiled.

"Already?!" I shouted at her. "You're joking, right?"

"Most women are happy with a short labour," the doctor laughed.

"I was expecting a long one," I muttered.

I was put into a position to push my baby out, and it hurt like hell, I'll tell you that! But it was about ten or fifteen minutes later, and he was out.

His little cries filled the room, and I cried, too!

"Hello, little man," I smiled as the nurse handed him over to me. "Hello."

"Do you have a name for him yet?" the doctor asked.

"Not yet," I replied, watching him. His eyes were dark blue, his hair blonde. He was beautiful.

"Okay, then," she grinned. "Congratulations, Lana."

I had a name I really wanted to name him. It was a name I hadn't thought of before, and I decided to suggest it to Daniel. Ultimately, it was my decision as Daniel would always be his stepfather, but I still liked a second opinion.

"Ashton," I said simply.

"Ashton?" Daniel asked. "I like it, you know."

"Ashton... what can be your middle name, Ashton?" I asked my little boy.

"How about Gregory, after your dad?" Daniel suggested.

"So it's settled then?" I grinned. "Ashton Gregory Danielson. You know, I never really thought about the fact that my last name has your name in it," I giggled.

"Yes, but one day you'll be Lana East, and you won't have to worry about it," he chuckled.

"I can't wait!" I grinned, but then froze. "Wait, you're not proposing, are you?"

"Uh... well... is it too soon?" he asked.

"Maybe," I chuckled. "Give it about six months. But you know I'll say yes anyway."

"You will?" his eyes lit up.

"I love you, Dan. I love you a lot. And I know that we're going to be together for a very long time."
