"Mason?" I call out after walking into his office tent.

"Is this about the bonfire? How many times do I have to tell you kids! It's still on. It's not supposed to rain!" He rants on before I interrupt him.

"Max said to talk to you about my shift tonight? She said you had something else planned."

"Don't worry about your shift. Marcus agreed to take it so Katie and him will be on the same schedule. Now I hate to cut this short but I need to go to an impromptu meeting. Bye Carter!" He speeds off into the distance. That man can be so unorganized to be the person he is. His mind can resemble a bouncy ball when it comes to things not strictly based on military.

"Thanks Mason!" I say before leaving the tent.

I walk silently to my tent and listen to the crunch, crunch, thud of the leaves and little twigs laying on the ground beneath my feet as I travel. The sound occupies my mind as I remember how much I love when the weather is cold and I used to curl up with a good book beside our gas-log fireplace back home.

Once when my family stayed in a cabin in Montana we got snowed in and couldn't leave for nearly a week. Everyone else was bummed because of our plans of adventuring outdoors and family bonding activities, but my twelve-year-old self was absolutely enthralled that I got to stay inside in my cozy bed and read all day. My mom even made us homemade chili and hot chocolate one night. I can still remember just how happy I was.

Before I even realize it, I'm in my tent sitting on my bed. Our beds weren't even beds, really. They were cots with blankets and sleeping bags and typically three to a tent. That being said, my siblings and I have been staying in one tent which has nearly annoyed the living hell out of me.

Ryder, incase you're wondering, has been staying with Calum's family since his family is back home.

We decided to join this camp because not only did we need to get our bearings with what was gout on, but we needed some time to figure out our Plan B. As of right now, this was our Plan B. Also, with Sam's wife, Julie, being seven months pregnant; we knew we needed to settle down for a while.

"Car-terr." I hear a familiar voice calling playfully. I automatically know who it is.

The tan skinned boy steps into my tent wearing a black long sleeved shirt and camouflage pants with hiking boots. I wouldn't say this was his normal attire, but I also wouldn't say that he looked bad. He looked great, actually.

"Hey!" My face lights up and I begin to blush as I reach in to give him my best hug. His arms embrace me with warmth and he smells like his cologne and soap. Mind you that those days we had been on our way here, we didn't get to shower daily, or even weekly. Gross, I know. But somehow during all of those days, he remained smelling like himself. I on the other hand had sweated like a pig and probably smelled like a cow died and a skunk threw him into a dumpster. (Don't even ask.)

He still told me he liked me though, daily I might add. One of those horrific days he even told me I was the prettiest girl he'd ever seen. I laughed in his face.

"So, do you want to go to the bonfire with me tonight?" He asks.

"Nope." I joke, but his face drops and a frown spreads across his lips plastering the most pitiful look I've ever seen. I giggle. "Of course! Cal you're so silly."

"Carter. It's 2015 and you just called your boyfriend silly. Wow. Okay, I don't know you."

My eyes widen. "Boyfriend?"

A bright red blush darkens his cheeks. "Uh-um" he stutters, "I um just meant that um-"

"Let me put you out of your misery, Calum." My brother walks into the doorway with my sister in tow.

"It's getting dark out already! Let's go get our part-ay on!" Alison shouts, pulling out the bottle of liquor from inside her pink jacket.

I glance at Calum before I take his hand and we walk out of the tent to the bonfire we never would have expected.
