"Who put Newt in charge?" Gally sneered.

"Alby did. That is what the words 'second-in-command' mean," I pulled my arm from his grasp, "Just be at the meeting, Gally."

"Wait!" Gally shouted, calling attention to our conversation. I quickly calmed everyone who had begun to stare.

"What? I have other people to talk to," I really didn't, I'd saved my encounter with Gally for last.

"What has Newt told you?" Gally asked, leaning closer to me.

"I don't know what you're talking about," I answered, knowing exactly what he was talking about.

"Carly. I'm sure Newt's told you his whole crap side of the story, right? And you've decided to defend the killer?"

"I've decided to defend Newt because he was put into that situation by others. He never wanted to hurt anyone."

"That's what they all say. Just don't be upset when he kills you."

I actually laughed, "Okay, I won't cry to you, when I'm dead."

"He's violent, Brianne. I've known him for almost three years. He's not who you think he is."

"I spend almost every minute of my days with him, I think I'd know Newt by now," I exaggerated.

"He's good at keeping secrets," Gally smiled, "Just thought you should know."

"Be at the meeting or you might actually see a violent Newt tonight," I joked, but was totally serious. Gally was so insensitive. Three people were just deemed dead, most likely, and he was making jokes about Newt. I didn't talk to him for all of five minutes and I'm already angry.

Now that I had told all of the Keepers about the emergency meeting. I had nothing to do, except find Newt. But where was he? I was a little worried still, not gonna lie, but I had to learn to trust Newt. He trusted me with his past secrets and now I had to trust him not to make those mistakes again.

"Brianne?" Someone said, their finger tapping me on the shoulder.

I turned to see Victoria.

Not now, Satan, not now.

"Yes?" I asked, looking around, hoping to see Newt so that I could avoid this conversation. Are all of the people I hate in need of attention tonight, my god, I just wanna see Newt.

"I know that you don't want to hear from me," Victoria sighed, her voice faltering in strength. Her eyes were filled with tears and then I remembered her connection to Minho. Victoria had just lost the person I know that she cared most about. My heart ached a little for her, "Clint asked me to get you."

"Why?" I asked, pressing her for information. Did something happen to Newt?

"Newt's in the homestead and there's been a few loud bangs. Nobody wants to go into his room, but we thought you would probably want to?" She asked, searching my eyes.

"What do you mean loud bangs?" I questioned, speed walking to the homestead.

"Like things breaking. He's upstairs!" She shouted after me, not following. Good thing too. I didn't need her hovering over me as I tried to console a heartbroken Newt.

I barged into the homestead, just as a few people walked out, all four of them giving me looks of regret and pity. Well, Victoria hadn't lied. Newt definitely came in here.

I took on the staircase two steps at a time, hoping to get to the second floor faster. I braced myself as my foot hit the top step.

Clint was in the hallway, he gave me a look of concern and a sad smile, "He's in there," He pointed to the only closed door on this level.
