The Lake

"Can someone explain to me when an equilibrium is reached as a repetition of yesterday?" My chemistry teacher asks after all the students have settled down in their seats and are somewhat paying attention. I try concentrating on the lesson but Jason keeps trying to distract me by either kissing my neck or grabbing my thigh under our desk. I swat his hand away but he just keeps putting it back.

"Jason I need to concentrate!" I hiss at him. I grab his hand and hold it in mine on the desk.

"You're just so irresistible." Jason whispers into my ear before his kisses me, making me blush like mad.

"You guys are so gross it makes me sick." I hear Connor say behind us. I turn around to face Connor and Raven to tell them off but Jason beats me to it.

"Fuck off Connor. You're just jealous."

Connor just scoffs and rolls his eyes. "So what are we doing this weekend? I was thinking the lake." He asks us; changing the topic.

"What lake?" I ask Connor. I didn't even know there was a lake in the town.

"You've never been to the lake?" Connor is flabbergasted, "That's it; we're definitely going to the lake tomorrow. It's only the most chill places to go in this town."

"I agree, Mia needs to go before it freezes in the winter" Raven adds as she looks up from her text book, it seems as if she is the only one of us four somewhat paying attention.

"Raven it's September not December; I think we still have a bit of time before the lake freezes. There's no rush" I tell my friend.

"Doesn't matter. We're still going this weekend. I'll tell the others." Jason says before he turns back to face the front of the class room.

I focus on the lesson for the rest of the period before the bell rings and I jump out of my seat and rush out of the room with the rest of my class. The hallways are packed with people and I try to stick with Connor as we have Bio together the next period. Biology is the one class that I dread each day. The first reason being that biology sucks and I don't give a flying fuck as to why leaves turn green or what mitosis and meiosis are. The second reason being the only friend I have in this class is Connor and he spends most of his time arguing with Alexa and when he isn't arguing with her he is glaring at her back.

When I reach the classroom I pull out my binder and sit down with my head resting on my arms, waiting for class to start.

"Wow, you didn't even try to help me."

"You fucking tripped. How the hell was I supposed to help you?"

"You're lucky I didn't spill my coffee on you."
"You're lucky you didn't spill your coffee on me. It wouldn't just be your dignity on the ground right now if you had."

Connor and Alexa have entered the room.

"I don't want to deal with you today." Alexa snaps. Yes, this is a daily occurrence. No, she won't stop arguing with him now that she said she doesn't want to deal with him today.

"Oh yeah, because I'm the one who's at fault." Connor retorts and he pulls up his chair next to me.

"It's always your fault you assbutt." There you have it.

"Assbutt. Good one Alexa, really mature."

"Connor please stop." I hiss into Connor's ear. I don't want to hear this today. The two of them are unbelievable. They spend their days fighting nonstop but as soon as Connor sees her speaking with some other guy he gets insanely jealous and nearly goes on a rampage.
