I turned and made my way down the road towards the taxi rank when the Gloucester accent that was still fresh in my memory called out.
"Kara!" He shouted sprinting towards me.
"Oh hi, Nathan," I smiled
"So what did you think of the show?" he asked.
"It was amazing! One of the best nights ever!" I burst out.
"Glad you enjoyed it. How did the photoshoot go? Those lads are crazy!" He laughed repeating the words of All Time Low's manager. And it was very true!
I laughed. "They really are! But it was fun, nothing too crazy,"
The other boys began to catch up with me and Nathan and they joined in with our small talk.
"Who's this, Nath?" smirked the boy with earrings.
"This is Kara! She's a photographer," This was the first time I'd actually been called a 'Photographer' and I have to admit it made me feel pretty proud, and I stood smirking and silently basking in his compliment.
"Nice to meet you, babe. I'm Tom," he said and lent forward planting a kiss on my cheek. You could tell he was the mischievious type with his thick Bolton accent and cheeky grin, but he seemed lovely.
"You too," I replied fixing my glasses to hide my giddy side. It was impossible to deny that all of these boys were attractive. VERY attractive actually. And they smelt great. I know I sound like a stalker but seriously... oh my god!
"That's Siva, and this is Max. And you know Jay from earlier," Nathan said gesturing to each of the boys.
"Nice to me you, Darlin'," said the tall, tanned boy. I think the phrase tall, dark and hansome would apply here nicely as he was the perfect representation. He spoke in a deep Irish accent that made me go weak at the knees. If you wanted the definition of a 'Sex God', then he was it.
You could tell Max had had one too many drinks as he threw his arm over my shoulder and began making up his own song.
"OOOOOH KAAAARA, KAAAARA, KAAAAARA THE PHOTOGRAPHERRRRR" he began swaying from side to side.
"I think you need to lay off the pints now, mate!" Jay laughed and patting him on his shining, bald head.
The boys began walking towards the taxis, Nathan and Siva holding Max up and Tom following closely behind.
"You look absolutely freezing!" Jay said standing in front of me watching me shiver with my arms folded.
"I'm fine," I chuckled. "I'm always cold,"
"Allow me to fix that," said Jay, shaping his arm so that there was space for me to link him.
I stared at him unsure, but from what Nathan had said earlier, he was just as awkward as me so if anything embarrasing was to happen, he'd be able to share my shame. I slid my arm through the gap and we began walking slowly towards the taxi rank. I could tell he was just being friendly and that it meant next to nothing, but he had a beautiful persona about him, and it made me feel secure, as cliche as it sounds. I'm not one for believing in all that 'Love at first sight' shit at all and I refuse to let myself get too attached to anyone emotionally for the constant fear of being let down.
We exchanged small conversation during the walk and he asked me about where I lived and the types of music I was into and other basic topics until we eventually caught up with the other boys who had stopped to let Max throw up in a grid. I have to say, my night could have done without that!
We arrived outside the taxi rank and I said my goodbye's to the other boys.
"Are you sure you're okay getting home by yourself?" Jay asked showing his concern.
"Yep, I'll be fine. Thanks," I smiled releasing myself from his grip.
"Well here, the taxi's on me," he said pulling out a £10 note from his pocket.
"Oh no Jay, I can't do that!" I said shaking my head vigorously.
"No you will because I won't rest if you don't," he said forcing it into my hands.
"Thanks so much Jay," I said laughing and shaking my head at his generosity.
I said goodbye to him and he watched as I drove away in the taxi. I don't know why but I felt unusually happy. As if I'd made some new friends, but I knew I shouldn't let myself get too excited over it as there was a good chance I was never going to see them again, so I just did my best to let it pass.
The taxi pulled up outside my house and I handed the driver a £10 pound note along with the money from Jay which just covered it. Although I wasn't complaining because he didn't have to do that at all.
I unlocked the front door as quietly as I could so I didn't wake up my Mum and dad. The taxi drive had made me feel so tired, so I just dropped my coat and bag in the hall and took off my shoes before running upstairs to my room. I didn't bother to wipe of the minimal amount of makeup I had on, so I just threw on the nearest pair of pjamas and tied my hair up loosely, resting my glasses on my bedside. Most nights I lay in bed, I often lay there thinking about life and all the shitty things that had happened which would always prevented me from sleeping. But tonight it was different. I drifted off into a comfortable sleep almost instantly with one thing on my mind, and I hated myself for it.
Stop it, Kara! You'll probably never see him again anyway. He's a small thing of the past.
Stop thinking about Jay!
