Jay's POV

"So, do we have a deal?" he asked.

I took a huge gulp before finding my words, and holding out my hand in front of him.

"it's a deal," I finally replied, and from the moment those words had left my lips, I knew there was no going back. It had to be done.

He threw me an evil smirk, and slid it into my hand. "Don't let me down, mate, I'm counting on you.." he said looking me directly in the eye before turning and jogging off through the dark alley. It couldn't have been a more obvious warning.

*what have I done?* I thought to myself. It wasn't like me to go to such drastic measures, but I was desperate. Desperate to provide for and protect my family; this was the only way possible. Ever since my dad had fucked off, I had been the one who was in charge, so I was going to do whatever it takes to help them. Even if it meant I had to put my own life at risk...

I closed my eyes tightly and pressed my back against the concrete wall, trying to block out the unbearable situation I had just dragged myself into. I'd never been one for getting into too much trouble, apart from one time when I pretended to be dead in the garden, but that was a whole different story. This time, I had really put my foot in it, and there was no getting out.

My thoughts were eventually interrupted by the vibration of my phone in my jacket pocket. 3 missed calls from Mum. My thumb hovered over the screen for a minute before it found the decline button. I wasn't ready to tell her where I was, and I didn't even know what I was going to tell her. She'd kill me dead if she knew what I'd done.

I zipped my phone back in my pocket and stood there for a few seconds, before my feet finally found there way along the pavement. I would just tell her I was with Siva working on some new music. She'd never suspect a thing...

When I reached the front gate, I placed my hand on the handle and took a deep breathe of reassurance. I strolled up the path and through the old wooden door leading into the hallway. I hung my coat on the hook and turned round to find my mum standing in front of me.

"Jay, where have you been? I've been worried sick trying to get in touch with you!" She yelled. I quickly scrambled for the words in my head.

"Oh er.. me and Seev got caught up in the studio with writing, nothing to serious. Sorry." I said, which I must admit sounded pretty convincing.

"Well as long as you're okay," she said, relieved.

I could tell she'd been worried. Her face was pale and she had thick, dark circles around her eyes, although I'm pretty sure it was mainly because of what had been going on lately. My dad had left us, and my gran had passed and Mum hadn't been out of the house in days. It was a very tough time for us all, especially Mum who suffered from strong anxiety.

I pulled her in for a hug and closed my eyes. I hated seeing her like this. She is the reason I do what I do. My Mum was my priority.

"Don't you worry about a thing, Mum," I said in my best reassuring tone. "We'll be okay soon.."
