"Oh.. yeah!" I said giving him an uneasy smile. He came and sat in the chair opposite me and I continued scrolling on my phone. I wasn't an expert when it came to social interaction, unless it meant chucking water on somebody... he he.
"So, I see you work here?" He asked, pointing at my 'Access All Areas' badge around my neck.
"Er, yeah... I'm doing a photoshoot for All Time Low in a few minutes. It's my first time professionally." I replied, feeling slightly more relaxed.
"Oh, cool!" the boy said cheerfully. "I'm Nathan by the way" he smiled while holding out his hand.
"Kara.." I said copying his actions. "You guys were great tonight!" I smiled
"Aw thanks babe," he said.
He didn't have the kind of personality you'd expect a typical young lad in a boyband to have. He was sweet and outgoing, which came as a bit of a surprise to me.
We swapped stories for a couple of minutes before All Time Low's manager finally decided to show his face.
"You're Kara James right?" He asked in what seemed like a 'I cannot be bothered talking to young hormonal teenage girls like you' tone.
"Just Kara's fine..." I corrected him. I couldn't stand being called by my full name. It was a disgrace to the human society.
I stood up and Nathan followed. "Maybe we can catch up later!" he said putting the thumbs up. Before I could reply, a tall curly headed boy approached us from the other side of the bar. I knew right away who it was. It was Jay, the perfect, tall lad who had eyes like pure crystals. And he was even more perfect in person. Damn you, Maddie...
"Who's your friend Nath?" He smirked, resting his arm on his shoulder. Nathan rolled his eyes and moved from under Jay's grip.
"This is Kara," he said cheerfully. I could feel myself becoming more nervous in my stomach, and that was never good. It usually meant I was about to say something that was completely inappropriate or just make a complete tit of myself.
"Why hello Miss Kara," Jay said bowing in front of me as if I was some sort of royalty, although I could tell he was joking.
"You'll have to excuse Jay," Nathan laughed. "He's rather awkward!" I couldn't help but let out a little giggle at his comment, because if it was true, it meant that me and Jay shared a trait.
"Don't worry, you're not the only one," I said, turning on my heels and heading backstage.
"I'll see you later, Miss Kara!" Jay called after me. Why did he have to be so god damn beautiful. Ugh!
I got backstage and arrived at a door which read "Dressing room - All Time Low" and I felt more nervous than ever.
"You can go right in there," said the manager, gesturing towards the door.
I gripped the handle and took a deep breath before going inside. I walked in to find a plain, white room - simple but elegant. There was a table filled with sandwiches, crisps of all flavours and chocolate cake. There was a huge flatscreen TV on the far wall and a dressing table where the boys must get their makeup done.
"Oh, you must be the photoshoot lady... person," said a voice from behind, and I knew right away that it was none other than Jack Barakat.
"Oh my... er... yeah that's me. Kara... that's my name!" I said, doing my best to hold back my cheesy grin, but failing miserably.
"Oh right, nice to meet you!" Said Jack shaking my hand and smiling.
"I'm a massive fan!" I couldn't resist telling him. He was one of my favourite people ever.
