"Maybe I just don't want you to be here." Harry said calmly as your argument had come to an end.

"Why would you say that?" Your heart broke at the thought of Harry wanted to end things and find someone new.

"I just want the arguing and ignoring each other to end. When we aren't arguing, one of us is giving the other the silent treatment and I don't want it to continue."

*

You laid in bed alone in the guest room, letting Harry have your bed all to himself. Things had been very rocky since he admitted he was unsure about wanting to continue the relationship. It was a week later, and you hadn't argued as much, but it had been awkward and silent most of the time. You didn't want to say anything to push Harry over the edge, and he didn't want to say anything to start another argument.

You were cold and lonely, knowing Harry was probably warm and cozy in your bed. You got up, tip-toeing to your room and slipping through the cracked door. The room was dimly lit by the television Harry had left on as he fell asleep. He usually didn't do that.

Walking to the bed as quietly as possible to not disturb him, you heard him mumbling in his sleep. He talked in his sleep a lot, usually just random and senseless things that made you laugh and wonder what in the world he could be talking about.

"Forever," Harry mumbled, making you stop in your tracks. "Marry me," he mumbled again. You were more than confused. He had never asked you anything about marriage and never said anything about spending forever with you. The only conclusion you could come to was that he was dreaming about someone else. There's no way he was talking to you in his dream, especially now after he admitted to wanting you to leave him.

You went to the couch in the living room, sitting up and watching television the rest of the night. You couldn't sleep at a time like this. You had too much on your mind to sleep, or even try to rest. You had gone over what to do in your head a thousand times, finally deciding that in the morning you would pack your things and say goodbye to your boyfriend of two years. This was his apartment, he paid the bills and all you did was help take care of it and live here. You were obviously a bother to him, he obviously was done trying to fix his relationship with you. He had started moving on and seeing other women, right? You weren't going to be the one to stop the love of your life from being happy.

At noon, you had finished packing all of your clothes into a suitcase and put as many of your belongings as you could into a duffle bag. You had lived here for a year, so it was hard to collect everything of yours. Most of your things were shared with Harry, so you left anything you knew he would miss if it were gone.

Harry was still in his bedroom, you assumed he was sleeping. Your duffle bag was in the backseat of your car and you sat your suitcase in the living room. You wanted to tell Harry goodbye, but he was still in bed. You knew you couldn't just leave without saying anything to him. You knocked on his bedroom door and he softly said, "Come in."

Your fingers played with your bottom lip out of nervousness as you saw him sliding a beanie onto his head. He was already dressed and had his shoes on.

"Do you have plans today?" You asked, trying to sound as casual and nice as you could.

"I was just going to run to the shops for a while. Do you want to go with me?" He looked you in the eye for the first time in a while. Your heart swelled at his attempt at being kind.

"Um, actually, that's sort of what I wanted to talk about." His eyebrows furrowed and he stepped closer to you.

"What?"

"I think it's best that I leave for a while, or however long you'd like me to be gone. I don't want to be in your way, and it seems we aren't really working out at the moment." Your voice was quiet, but you tried to speak clearly so there were no misunderstandings.

"What?" Harry repeated, only more confused this time. "You don't have to leave. This is your apartment too." He made an excuse, just wanting you to stay.

"Harry, you're the one who pays the bills. This apartment is all yours, I never do anything to help you." You gave him a small smile to try to lighten the mood. He stayed silent, still looking a little confused as he stared at you. "I've already packed my things." You added, taking a step backwards.

Harry's face was unreadable as you said a small goodbye and exited the room. You reach the living room and heard his footsteps quickly following behind.

"You can't just leave me," Harry grabbed your hand that was on the suitcase and moved it away.

"You said you wanted me to, I don't want to make you unhappy and we just," you sighed. "Harry, we aren't happy living like this. You aren't happy and I can't stand knowing it's because of me being here and dragging on this relationship any longer."

He shook his head lightly, "You're not, we're not." He kept his answers short and you didn't know why. Maybe he was holding something back, you didn't know anything except the fact that you needed to go.

"Any other person in this world could easily make you happier than I've ever made you." You admitted and his expressions immediately became angry.

"If you think you've never made me happy, you must be absolutely crazy," he spoke, bending down slightly to be closer to his height. "You've made me the happiest and luckiest man in the entire world every single day."

It was your turn to shake your head, not believing his words. "I have to go." You said quietly. You dragged your suitcase to the door and noticed Harry hadn't said another word to stop you, a sign you did need to go.

"Please don't leave me."

You stopped yourself from opening the door, turning to face him. "Harry,"

"No, you don't have to go. You can stay here and we can be happy and we can spend forever together." Harry wanted to fall to his knees and beg you to just stay and give him another shot at making things work. You remembered his words from his sleep last night, realizing he was dreaming about you and telling you everything he wanted to tell you in real life, in his dream. "We can get married some day and have a big family and be happy together, and work all of this out. Don't you want that with me?"

"Of course I want that with you," you laughed. "That's all I've ever wanted with you, Harry. It's all I'll ever want."

"Then stay here." He grabbed your suitcase and moved it away from you and the door, pulling you inside. He held your hands near his chest tightly, not letting you go anywhere.

"Are you sure that's what you want?" You asked as his face came closer to yours. He smiled, nodding.

"It's all I've ever wanted." His lips touched yours in a gentle kiss, making you pull him closer and wrap your arms around his shoulders as his arms held your body. He kissed you less gently each kiss, just wanting to feel your lips that he hadn't felt in so long.
