Chapter 52

Evelyn's POV

"I assume you know my son?" I ask, staring into her hazel eyes.

"Yeah, Four, isn't it?" Jess replies, still using Tobias's dauntless nickname.

She sits on her edge of her seat, ready to jump up whenever needed. Like Jess, I, myself, am often know for sitting on the edge of furniture.

"Yep," I reply, "How do you find him?"

"Umm... He's okay..." she replies nervously.

"Good looking, right?" I say, my eyebrow arched. Of course he's good looking. Anyone can say that just by looking at him...

"Yeah, I guess so," shrugs Jess, "Why?"

I tap my fingers slowly on the desk in front of me, delaying my reply.

"Tris. Tris Prior," I respond, eventually.

"Oh yeah, Four's girlfriend. They seem really close. I know he loves her," says Jess, making me feel a bit sick, but also jealous at the same time.

He loves her more than he loves me.

"Well," I say, slowly, "I'm not so happy about their... Thing..."

I refuse to call it a relationship.

"And... What do you want me to do about it?" asks Jess, looking confused.

I smile, a friendly smile and stare right in her eyes.

"Break them up," I say.
