5: Flirting

"No, because I want you to teach her and really focus on her. I don't want her tearing this place to shreds. You'll be off for next week. Jack will take over your shift." I once again tried hiding my smile. I bit my lip to prevent myself on making a face. It was extremely hard, especially since Jason was staring at me.

I couldn't wait until I told Ashley the news. I just know she would be beyond jealous about me being chosen.

I was never the cocky type or show off, but Ashley made it hard for me not to do so when it came to her.

"That means a lot sir. Thank you again." I was genuinely touched for such a responsible position.

"Ahh, don't thank me. Thank you for agreeing," He spoke with a small smile, but quickly gave me a stern look as he realized what he did. He cleared his throat breaking the awkward tension. "Well go ahead and get back to work." He immediately got up from his seat and gestured me to get out.

"Okay by-" Before I could finish, he pushed me out and closed the door behind me.

  Lunch break came along which I've been waiting for. Two hours of fast walking back and forth with trays and serving food for awhile was tiring. I definitely needed this break more than anything. I was now eating a sandwich that the chef, my friend, belle made for me.

Before taking another bite my phone vibrated. I groaned out loud. I placed my beautiful sandwich down on my plate and took my phone out of my pocket.

Unknown number: Are you a Cop?

What kind of question is that?

Me: well hello to you too

Unknown number: just answer the question!

Me:  yeeh. no i'm not a cop

Unknown number: Cause you're America's Finest

Unknown number: lollllllll

Me: ........

Unknown number: good, huh?

Me: no its wasn't lol

Unknown number: I hope you know CPR

Me: and why is that?

Unknown number: CAUSE YOU TAKE MY BREATH AWAY

Unknown number: yeah pft i know you're basically head over heels for me

Unknown number: hm i must be a snowflake

Me: they were okay I guess

Unknown number: like hello that took my hours to come up with .. just for you

Me: can I ask u a question

Unknown number: thx for ignoring me but sure

Me: well you know my name so i think it's only fair for you to tell me yours

Unknown number: guess what I want on the menu?

Me: pls answer my question

Unknown number: i want Me-n-u

Unknown number: bahaha get it? bc i want me and you?

Me: can you stop ignoring the question?

Unknown number: and can u stop ignoring me flirting w you

Me: what

Unknown number: fine i'll txt you my name tomorrow but for now i want you to change my contact to something. just for today

Me: okay go on 

Something: ok i want you to put me as "queen" as my contact name. i wanna feel superior

Me: um are you sure

Something: yeah,why?

Me: oh nothing nothing 

I quickly changed her contact to "queen" . How odd of a pet name. Personally never used it and seemed to like it.

Queen👨🏻: Done?

Me: mhm

Queen👨🏻: ahaha i feel so powerful and unstoppable

Me: woah woah don't get ahead of yourself cowgirl

Queen👨🏻: Make me a sandwich bitch!

Me: what the hell-

Queen👨🏻: Sorry I just wanted to say that ily

Queen👨🏻: i saw one of my friends skateboarding and it reminded me of you

Me: why?

Queen👨🏻: don't you skate or something?

Me: yeah i do

Queen👨🏻: I do too. wow we're getting married. this is all too soon

Queen👨🏻: We're gonna have beautiful kids together! ;)

Me: very charming, aren't you

Queen👨🏻: you know the dealio. anyways back to skateboarding

Me: okay what about it

Queen👨🏻: Can you teach me how to ride one

Me: sure if we ever meet in person

Queen👨🏻: omg YAYY!!

"Hey Y/N get back to work. Your break is over. Stop slacking." I looked up from my phone to see Jason now staring down at me. I stared back at him, having this awkward staring contest. Out of nowhere, he unexpectedly banged on the table causing me to flinch.

  "Yes sir." I mumbled. I could feel my heart fasten it's pace from when he banged the table in front of me. Luckily, someone called him over which made him break our stare. He walked away without a word.

Me: i have to go now unfortunately. cya bud

Queen👨🏻: aww bye! xxx

"Who were you texting?" I heard causing me to jump again, almost dropping my phone in the process. First the table banging and now a jump scare? Not a great combination.

"What the hell? Don't do that. " I said with a slight annoyance in my tone. I got up from my seat to collect my trash and throw it away. "Couldn't help it. You look so invested. Was it the girl?" Ashely felt like she was getting ready to bombard me with questions. She can be very nosy sometimes, but I learned over time to deal with it. 

"Maybe, maybe not." I said in a playful tone, shrugging my shoulders. I dumped my trash right into the trash can. "So mysterious." She wiggled her eyebrows as she followed me.

"Ashley get your ass back to work!" Jason shouted from the other side of the store. I'm surprised the customers haven't sent out a compliant yet. They probably enjoyed the show that came from our boss. "Sorry boss." Before leaving Ashley moved closer to me.

"Tell me all about it after work," she whispered in my ear then walked away.
