Nothing's Ever Easy ~Chapter 3

Start from the beginning

“Okay, I’ll tell them to start getting ready. You know small house, one bathroom and five people.” I laughed as o knew that he was making a joke. “Is your sister coming as well?”

“She’ll probably join us later. I would need some time though, I need to go fetch the Land Cruiser at my cousin’s house first.”

“I understand. Thank you Landon.”

“It’s not a problem. I’ll be there around six-thirty.”

“Okay, see you then.” I heard the phone click off and I put mine in the little cubby under my radio.

I couldn’t lie, I literally had the hugest grin on my face as I went home. Both my mom and dad gave me odd looks as I walked by, but I ignored them. I was way too happy to let anything ruin my mood.

Yea, I knew that it wasn’t a date but hanging out with Travis would probably be fun as well. I really hoped that his siblings liked me. if Travis told them how much of a douche I was, I hardly stood a chance. I think that I thought too soon; this could definitely ruin my mood.

“Landon, stop thinking so hard. You’re going to make your head explode. Then again, that wouldn’t be such a bad thing.” My sister said as she strolled into the room. “What’s got your panties in such a twist? Or should I saw who?”

I scowled when I saw her face expression. This was what I hated about having a sister so close to my age, with us being only a year apart, people often mistook us for twin; one that’s weren’t identical of course.

“Nothing that you should be worried about.” I walked up the stairs to the attic that my parents let me change into my bedroom and heard the sound of my sister’s- Claire’s- footsteps.

“I can see that something’s bothering you, Landon.” I turned around to face her, giving her a hard glare. “Your silly glares aren’t going to work on me. I’m following you up to your room and we’re going to have a little chat about this person that’s got your heart beating overtime.”

I said nothing as we walked the rest of the way. I pushed the door to my bedroom open and threw my bag on my bed. I fell down on the bed and ran my fingers through my hair.

“There’s this guy, his name is Travis. He’s a senior like me but he’s so advanced for his age. He has a few classes with me but we really ‘connected’ in Sex Ed.” I took a breath before I continued. “This guy, Claire he’s so amazing. I mean, I don’t usually go for guys like him but something about him draws me in.”

“You sound like you really like this guy. Sex Ed, you say?” she moved across the room and settled down into my hammock that I had hung from the ceiling. She took out a sharpie and started doodling on the wall.

I didn’t mind though. Ever since we moved into this house about ten years ago, we would come into the attic and write on the wall. When this became my room, I didn’t have the heart to paint over it.

“Landon, quit spacing out. We’re talking about important things over here.” I felt a pillow hit the side of my head.

“What?” I looked over at her and she repeated her question. “Yes, I like him.”

“Why do I feel like there’s a ‘but’ coming in here somewhere?” she looked at me skeptically.

“I don’t like people. I mean, I don’t get crushes on guys, or girls. This is new territory for me. I have a feeling that I’m going to screw it up.” I sat up and hugged the pillow.

“If you keep talking that way then you really are going to screw it up. you like the boy, go after him. Don’t give up because of a tiny fear.” Her words kept playing over and over in my head. “Okay, we’ll do this; I’ll go with you tonight befriend him and talk you up to him. I’ll make him see the real you, not the man-whore façade you want everyone to see.”
