Christian's POV

Chase is getting on my nerves these days. If he was good enough of a player, he would have been captain, and it's high time he realizes that. I sense a ball about to hit me, so I regain my consciousness and catch it. It was Chase.

"Yo, captain, I want a one-on-one game with you," he says.

The oohs and ahhs echo in the basketball court, making me smirk. My teammates can be stupid sometimes.

"Or you're too scared because you know you don't deserve the role of being a captain," he says, and so is he. I know he's trying to get on my nerves, but not today. I have a lot on my mind already.

It's day 10 of Des and my little agreement. Four more days left. After those four days are over, is she going back to how she treated me before? Rolling her perfect siren eyes at me anytime I pass her in an exam, passing by me in the hallways and acting like I never existed, not acting like other girls by giving me zero attention, not attending my games, and other things.

We may not date each other, but I think she's starting to grow on me, and I love to keep her around, especially really close to me.

I didn't realize I was fiddling with her scrunchie till Lincoln tapped my shoulder.

"Christian," he says, making me sit up straight, leaning on the wall behind me. "You're falling in love," he says.

If Lincoln of all people is saying this, then it's true. Even though physically he looks like your typical bad boy, he speaks sense most of the time.

"What makes you say that?" I ask, my heart racing.

"I was just kidding, but you should have seen your face," he says and bends down to pick his bag. I got up and placed his head in my underarms, trying to strangle him, but he just kept laughing. This son of a bitch. I stopped when I spotted his girlfriend recording us with a huge smile on her face. They piss me off. They're so in love with each other.

"It's fun getting on your nerves, little bro," he says, walking towards his girlfriend, turning back to look at me. I just stared back.

I was the only one left in the court and decided to practice some more.

_About thirty minutes later_

It was almost 5 at this point, and I felt someone's gaze on me, so I turned to look around and saw Des.

"Hey, were you spying on me?" I ask, still holding the basketball and walking up to her.

As I got closer, she held her nose and made a disgusted face.

"I know I don't stink," I say, pulling her in for a hug, and she giggles. I could listen to her all day.

"Anyways, what are you still doing here?" she asks, looking up at me.

Oh my gosh, this girl is so beautiful.

"I was practicing," I told her as I went to take my duffle bag.

"You're being too hard on yourself, take a break," she complained.

"The basketball finale is almost here; after that, I'll take a break," I told her.

"By the way, what are you still doing here?" I ask.

"I was in the science lab," she answered.

"You learn a lot, take a break," I say, repeating the same words that she said to me.

"After the finals, I'll take a break," she said, repeating the same words I said.

"Should I drop you off?" I ask, and she nods.

I take her hands in mine and say, "Alright, come on, let's go."
