"Is Mallory awake?" I asked him. I didn't want to just loudly barge in there if she was sleeping and wake her up. I wanted her to get as much sleep as she could, especially before her visitors show up, and she doesn't have much chance too.

"Was I sleeping when you walked over here?" Mason asked me.

"Yes" I stared at him.

"So how the hell would I know-" Mason complained, growing more awake now that he was irritated with me.

"Oh shut up" I huffed, clutching the tray between my hands.

"Well if I was still sleeping, I would" Mason remarked. "What do you want? You look like a waiter"

I narrowed my eyes at him. "If Max or a nurse or whoever asks, you bought this for her"

"Oh just because you're living a lie doesn't mean I have to" Mason scoffed disapprovingly. I don't understand why he has a problem with it, considering in the gallery the other day he was scolding me about making things too obvious and it backfiring on her. He's surprisingly, but luckily, managed to keep his mouth shut this entire time. This was no different.

"I should have kicked you harder" I muttered.

"You'd fall over" Mason rolled his eyes.

I didn't say anything else, I just quietly opened the door to her room so that I wouldn't disturb her. I kept it propped open so I didn't make too much noise, and Mason was outside anyways just in case. He can continue to make comments about lying to everyone, but he was going to keep his mouth shut regardless. He'd jeopardize it for me, but he wouldn't do that to Mallory.

Mallory was blissfully sleeping, the same way that I left her last night. I held her body pressed to mine, stroking the side of her face until she had drifted off into the abyss. It took her a while to finally fall asleep, she kept randomly flinching and grasping my t-shirt tighter every so often while her eyes were closed, assumingly thinking about the attack. It kept disturbing her ability to doze off, but I wasn't in a rush. She didn't want me to leave until she fell asleep, and I told her that I would stay. Eventually, an hour later, I felt her body relax and signal that she was out.

I still waited around a little bit longer, so I didn't get up and accidentally wake her back up again. Plus, I was quite comfortable with the fact that I was holding her in my arms, even though I shouldn't have been. Knowing what I do now about my feelings towards Mallory, I should be pulling away or distancing myself because it'd be the smarter option, but she almost died. She almost died the other day, and the only thing I wanted to do was make sure she was okay.

I glanced up at the ceiling and then cleared a spot on the counter for Mallory's breakfast. I didn't know whether or not she'd be up for eating it, but it was there just in case she wanted it. I glanced back at her, she hasn't moved a muscle, so that was good. Since I was confident she was in a deep sleep, I walked over to her, something I didn't originally plan on doing. I was still being cautious and delicate, afraid to scare her and cause a repeat of yesterday. I kissed the pads of my fingertips and then pressed them lightly to Mallory's forehead, transferring it over to her.

She didn't even startle, which of course had me looking at her monitors to make sure she was okay. It was relieving to see that her blood pressure was stabilizing, and hopefully it stayed that way once she got busy.

"I'll be back later" I whispered to her, despite her being asleep. Regretfully, I turned and headed towards the door, lingering for a moment before I took Stevie's breakfast and left. It stung to close the door behind me, not knowing how many hours it could be until I get to come back.

"She's still sleeping" I warned Mason, so he didn't go bother her.

"Oh I wish I was" Mason fake smiled.
