Chapter 1: "Howling Wind"

Kai's POV:
Swiftly evading an artificial light, breathing steadied, padded footsteps hungrily running after me, increasing pace, trying to escape this abnormally large wolf, eyesight narrowing, noticing a sharp corner I gracefully manoeuvred it with ease.

Accidentally cornered, muttering mild cursing under a mere breath, slowly staring toward this monstrosity, each strand of it's fur on end, it's mouth baring sharpened teeth in a snarl, accompanied by predatory glare with those amber eye colour.

Facade of fear vanishing, grinning, the wolf unflinching, stepping a singular foot forward, knee bent an inch, back slouching, slowly retracting my upper and lower wolf-like fangs, eye colour changing from my natural brown to a piercing red, the wolf whimpered, it's body posture submissive, continually snarling aggressively toward it, successfully asserting dominance, as a familiar voice echoed into my environment, this was unfortunate timing.

Cole: "KAI YOU OUT HERE! HAVE ANY LUCK FINDING OUR ESCAPED CONVICT!"

Repositioning my body to a straightened form, retracting any inhuman appearance, sighing in annoyance that wolf, our escaped convict, scurried somewhere untraceable, if only Cole didn't nonchalantly scream, our mission would've been successful.

Walking forward, halting when Cole appeared into proximity,noticing he had a relieved smile etched on his face, for me, I firmly kept a monotonous expression.

Cole: "So Kai any luck?"

"No, oh and for future reference, don't shout so casually, there would've been a possibility our escaped convict could be back in prison but you know"

Cole: "look I'll take the blame, sorry, I didn't realise..."

Before a word would be spoken a wolves howl travelled through the wind, though not enough for an average human to hear.

"Let's make haste back to the monastery, it is a full moon tonight, that's when ninjago prisoners get night crazies"

Cole: "wait, Kai, our convict is a human male is he not?"

"Yeah? Why ask?" Lifting a brow, Cole appeared nervous.

Cole: "w-well...it could've been a mistake of Lighting but I thought momentarily a man shifted to an abnormally large wolf before reaching you, did anything happen?"

Knowing none of my ninja family knew of me or others like myself, I had to lie to a fellow brother.

"Unfortunately no, all I remember was chasing our convict, he disappeared into that alleyway then turning for a second when hearing you shout, after that he mysteriously vanished, look how about we tell Lloyd this-"

Lloyd: "tell me what?"

Unintentionally flinching, his scent untraceable, heartbeat calm, I couldn't understand why none of my inhuman senses detected his presence, I'm guessing it is because Lloyd is half dragon - half Oni.

"Ah...ahem, hey Lloyd nice night am I right?"

Lloyd: "uh huh, let me guess, you two lost another escaped convict? That's three times now, why did this keep happening Kai? You helping them?"

Accidentally releasing a wolf-like low growl, clenching each fist, Cole calmly placed his hand on my shoulder.

Cole: "Kai let me take the hit, you clearly are unwell, head back for the Monastery let me talk to Lloyd, okay?"

Briefly nodding in understanding, steadily heading for direction of the monastery, purposely ignoring their conversation, I nearly revealed to them something meant to be caged.

Cole's POV:
Crossing each arm, Lloyd's glare intense, his skin reddened from anger, there wasn't any valid reason for such immaturity.

"Lloyd drop it, alright, don't blame Kai, I'm the one who saw a trick of light, seeing an abnormally large wolf and got distracted, okay?"

Lloyd: "did you say a large wolf?"

"Yeah?..."

Lloyd: "Tch, what fur colour did this wolf have?"

"I-I don't know, white?"

Lloyd: "eye colour?"

"A-Amber?"

Lloyd: "damnit, that was our escaped convict! I didn't want to brief you or Kai but that prisoner was something called a wolf blood, it's a rare disease that will carefully choose the host, thankfully unlike other folklore of ninjago, their bite and or scratch are harmless, painful but they cannot infect others, we need to head for the monastery immediately and get Kai to report what he truly witnessed"

Nodding, as Lloyd swiftly hurried for the monastery, I closely followed at his heel, only hoping Kai would brief us of the truth, because what's strange, before I'd even arrived there was two growls, one definitely belonging to our escaped convict, another, unfamiliar.
