Upon entering the lobby, there was still no sight of Klaus. That only served to make the pit developing in your stomach all the harder to ignore.
You did find Viktor, Luther, and Diego, all of whom seemed to have also just arrived. Luther was actively fretting over both of the shorter men, Viktor had somehow acquired a new gash just below his cheekbone, and the back of Diego's neck looked like someone went at it with a weed-whacker. By the time you joined the three of them, Luther was launching into a lecture, "The Sparrows were right about him; he's too dangerous."
Viktor was quick with his rebuttal, "And that's on me, okay? This is my problem, so I'll be the one to fix it!"
"Hey," you interrupted, all three men startling like cats before turning to look at you.
Just as they did, you felt another presence at your side and turned to look, finding that Allison had sauntered up beside you. She also bore a new injury: a small split in her lip. Detached, she asked the group, "What's up?"
Luther's eyes widened almost comically, "Oh my God, did he get you too? At this rate, we'll all end up like—" his eyes found your arm and he looked like he was going to puke despite the sheen of crystals covering the appendage.
Allison took a turn quickly fretting over Viktor. You could feel your expression sour at Luther's expression, moving your hand over your injured arm, "Luther, chill out. You're acting like a frazzled mother hen and it's really fucking weird."
Luther opened his mouth to give a retort, only for the wooden shelf against a nearby wall to spontaneously explode, travel pamphlets and magazines shooting out like shrapnel. As the dust and splinters settled on the ground, lying in the middle of the heap like a fallen meteor lay Five, Lila, and the last briefcase on Earth, dying with a few final crackles and mechanical whines. The pale brunette's green eyes fell on you, blinking once.
"Oh, hey," you said, a smile crawling across your face. "Welcome back."
He scrambled to his feet, relief practically written on his forehead in Sharpie as he threw himself at you, arms crushing your torso to his waist. "What happened to communication?" he said, petulance in his tone. "You said you were going to come with."
A chuckle burst from your chest as you returned his tight embrace, gently wincing as you squeezed too tight with your injured arm, "Eh, think of it as light payback for all of your disappearances." He scoffed in such a manner you could visualize his eyes rolling.
Sensing the pain and feeling the crystal against him, he pulled back and examined your arm, muddy red and gauze underneath layers of crystal, "What the hell happened?"
Before you could reply, Viktor spoke, "Better question, where were you guys?"
Five gave a noise of displeasure, clearly the trip had been unpleasant. He turned his head to look at the short man, "Facing my mortality, Viktor. I don't recommend it."
As the case went silent at Allison's feet, her eyes blazed with fury as she rounded on Five, "I can't believe you three had the briefcase and didn't tell anyone!"
The time traveler scratched the back of his neck. You imagined if he'd looked any less apologetic Allison would've slapped him. "Unfortunately, I'm not sure it'll be all that useful to you now . . . Yeah, that thing's toast."
You gently elbowed him to get him to stop talking as Allison whirled around to cool off for a bit.
Behind you, Lila threw her arms around Diego, the latter's face contorting in a battle of confusion and delight, hands hesitantly finding a resting spot on her lower back.
