I leaned on my open palm as I smiled. She was so happy. She adored him. He adored her. That was clear enough for me to see. That made me so happy for her. "Four years?" I asked her.

They were holding hands over the table. He stroked the back of her hand lightly, and sometimes he even brought it to his lips to kiss. They were cute. Disgustingly cute. Cute, nevertheless. Shawna pulled back a strand of hair behind her ear. "Well, yeah. It's more like three years, eight months, and seventeen days, but yeah, you can round it to four years." I will because three years, eight months, and seventeen days is so much longer to say. Shawna smiled as she looked back into Kyle's eyes.

Oh, I could have thrown up my food, but I didn't because it was too delicious. "That's still a long time." I told her.

"Yeah, well, he's been there for everything, so how could I not keep him around?" Shawna smiled and quickly pecked his lips for the sixth time during this short lunch. We were still eating appetizers. Then, she finally turned back to me. "You." She pointed to me before picking up her fork to eat her salad with one hand. "I wish I could keep you around, but you decided to be a like a dove, and I have to let you go, hoping you'll come back." She said.

I sighed. "Please, don't be bitter about it." I teased.

Shawna gave me a weak smile. "I can't believe you're leaving today, and we've barely spent any time together. It's a crime." She was upset about the ordeal, but she tried not to be, which I appreciated greatly. If my sister cried about me leaving, I definitely couldn't. "You have to promise me that you'll visit more often then once every blue moon wedding."

I pursed my lips. "That's a hard promised to make, Shawna." I told her honestly because if I wasn't honest with my sister, then I couldn't be honest with anyone, much less myself. A flicker of a true frown went over her features, and it disheartened me. "But, I make exceptions for you, and I'll try."

She smiled at me brightly, and I knew that I would do anything for that smile the moment that Mom and Dad brought her home from the hospital. "Mom and Dad keep asking about you, by the way."

I raised an eyebrow. I turned to Kyle. "So you and your brother run this restaurant, huh?" I asked him, plainly changing the subject. I hated talking about my parents.

"Shawna said you would do that." Kyle laughed at me.

"Do what?" I asked him suspiciously. "Ask her boyfriend about his restaurant? I thought that was the proper thing to do anyways."

Kyle shook his head, making his dark hair shift a little with his head. I supposed longish hair was a style choice. "It is the proper thing to do. Our restaurant is doing great. We have a steady customer flow and regulars. Foreign food sells." Kyle foolishly indulged me. At least, I thought he was just going with the change of subject until a smirk came upon his lips. Geez, and I had even smiled and nodded, mentally giving him points in my book. "But, I believe, your sister wanted to talk to you about your family." He insisted.

Sneaky brown noser.

"I don't want to talk about them." I said bluntly. "No offense, Kyle, not in front of a stranger. It's to his benefit if we don't talk about those power-hungry, dollar signs for eyes, gossiping-lipped people. He doesn't need to see my blow up and get all rebellious teenager about them." I waved my hand dismissively. "It's best if we just leave it at that."

"Jordyn." Shawna teased my name with exasperation. "We're all adults. The only one that's gonna make you 'blow up and get all rebellious teenager' is you."
