Preface - A Note from the (Co)Author

What would happen if you immersed an original character into the world of Neon Genesis Evangelion, not with a script, but through a living simulation? What if every interaction, every consequence, every shift in the timeline unfolded dynamically, in real time, guided by an AI model trained on the full depth of Evangelion's lore, psychology, and emotional weight?

That's exactly what this story is.

This novel is the result of an AI-driven roleplaying experience set within the world of Evangelion. I created Kai, a fully original character with his own backstory, mysteries, emotions, and voice, and stepped into the story as him. The AI controlled everything else: the world, the timeline, the Angels, NERV, and most importantly, the authentic voices of the original characters.

Every conversation in this novel was born from real interaction, Kai (played by me) speaking and reacting as himself, and all the other characters reacting as themselves. Shinji. Asuka. Misato. Rei. Gendo. All of them behaved according to their canon personalities, shaped by the deep Evangelion knowledge provided by the AI. And yet, the moment Kai entered their lives, the familiar trajectory began to fracture in unforeseen ways.

While the AI tried to preserve the core timeline of the original anime, Kai's presence disrupted it in unexpected ways. The AI also had the freedom to adjust minor elements, like the order in which the Angels appeared, to enhance unpredictability and keep the experience genuinely surprising, while still honoring the structure of the original story.

I never allowed Kai to know anything beyond his own experience, never granted him insights he shouldn't have. He acted as himself: confused, curious, defiant, hopeful. Everything he discovered, the reader discovers alongside him. Every decision mattered. Every conversation left a mark.

Because this story unfolds entirely from Kai's perspective, even familiar events from \textit{Neon Genesis Evangelion} feel fresh, unexpected, and deeply personal. His viewpoint transforms known moments into something new, revealing hidden emotions, unseen consequences, and unexplored paths, with key moments visually captured by the same AI that shapes his reality. Through Kai's eyes, you will experience the familiar universe in ways you've never imagined, breathing new emotional depth into a beloved narrative.
