‘Jesse this isn’t healthy,’ she stated stupidly.

‘And you don’t think I know that?’ I responded. ‘I may be drunk but I’m not stupid,’ I continued to tell Isabella as I continued to walk.

‘Jesse where are you going?’

‘For a smoke, now you can either come and stop asking questions or you can go back to lesson like a good girl,’ I teased.

‘Jesse, you know what? I’ve tried to help you, now I see why Charles went.’ I froze at the sound of his name. ‘I will go back to lesson, you know why? Because I don’t need to watch someone ruin their life,’ Isabella finished, and then she turned around and walked off. Why did she have to use Charles against me?

Callie’s POV

‘Charles, you do realise I have to go to school in about,’ I checked my phone. ‘Four hours time,’ I continued.

‘I’ll go with you,’ Charles announced...again.

‘I’ve told you, you can’t. Yesterday I got in so much trouble because “you wanted to go with me”,’ I quoted making quotation marks with my fingers.

‘Fine then, buy me ice cream,’ Charles instructed.

‘I don’t care how you act at home Charles, but here you do thinks for yourself,’ I pushed as I tried to sleep again.

‘I’ve just been cheated on, I’m struggling,’ Charles whined.

‘Get Geoffrey to help you then, I need to sleep!’ I urged as I pulled my quilt over my face.

‘I need ice cream,’ Charles insisted.

‘Charles, I have school in four hours. It is five o’clock and I haven’t slept at all for the past two days. It’s either, you shut up complaining or I’ll ship you back to Driftwood,’ I threatened. Thankfully Charles shut up.

I ate my breakfast sleepily as I tried to keep my eyes open. ‘Can you buy ice-cream now?’ Charles questioned. I had an urge to punch him in the face.

‘How about, I’ll give you some money and then you and Geoffrey can go to the shop?’ I offered as I took my money from the shelf behind the table. ‘Look, ten dollars. Buy two tubs of ice-cream.’ I handed the money to Charles and he smiled childishly at me.

‘Thank you,’ Charles over-exaggerated as he walked off, his hips swinging.

‘When are you going back to Driftwood anyway?’

‘A week...or two...maybe?’ Charles announced. ‘Geoffrey, come here! We need to go buy ice cream!’ Charles shouted through the house.

‘Bye, Charles,’ my mom shouted as she walked down the stairs.

‘Bye, Victoria,’ Charles responded.

Charles’s POV

‘My life sucks,’ I moaned as I held my spoon with ice-cream on it in my mouth. ‘I need someone to love me, Jesse obviously didn’t,’ I continued to sulk.

‘I’m going to stop you from eating ice-cream if all you’re going to do is complain. Your life doesn’t suck and lots of people love you,’ Geoffrey began.

‘I don’t need lots of people to love me, I need Jesse,’ I complained. ‘Do you think Jesse has moved on?’

‘No, no one can move on that quickly Charles.’
