Chapter 24: Earth's Mightiest Heroes

At a Stark Industries plane, Pepper was watching the news like the others about what is happening in New York as she didn't hear her phone go off.

At Ruby's Chicago Penthouse, Ruby and her entire gang as well as staff were all also watching the news. They were all so entranced that Ruby didn't notice her phone go off either.

SHIELD Agents at the Helicarrier were also watching the news in dread.

Ironman and IronLad said nothing as together they guided the missile towards the portal as the others saw them go. Everyone. They managed to get the missile through the portal.

The SHIELD agents all celebrated but Fury didn't as he was still waiting for both Tony Stark and Wade Stark to return.

In the portal, their armors powered down as they let go of the missile as they were falling towards the portal and they saw with their own eyes the mothership of the Chitauri. The endgame.

The missile hit it as the nuke went off. All of the Chitauri and Leviathans all fall dead instantly. The Starks couldn't keep their eyes open anymore as they closed their eyes.

Widow: come on, Starks. Come on.

The explosion was so blinding that no one could see them and believed they were dead.

Cap: close it.

Mockingbird: NO! No!

Amora had the scepter's blade touch the Tesseract as the beam was shut off and the portal started closing as Ironman and IronLad managed to make it through as they were now falling as everyone looked relieved.

Cap: sons of guns.

Thor: they're not slowing down.

Thor was ready to fly to catch them but Hulk jumped in as he caught Ironman and tried to decelerate by clinging to a building but jumped and covered Ironman's body with his as Ant-Man pressed a different button on his belt and he became Giant Man as he caught IronLad and also used his body to soften the fall. They put them side by side as Hank went normal again.

Janet: you could go big?

Hank: it's a prototype. Can't use it much, it strains my muscles.

Steve: are they breathing?

Thor ripped their faceplates off when the others ran over. There was no response as Bobbi started to sob. Hulk roars as Tony wakes up gasping.

Tony; what the hell? What just happened? Please tell me nobody kissed me.

Bobbi; wait... Wade hasn't woken up.

Tony; what?!

They all looked at Wade as Tony started getting desperate as Thor helped ripped the armor off Wade's body. Janet started giving him CPR but it wasn't working.

Tony: no... no! I can't lose you! <holds him close> come back. I can't lose you.

Bobbi and Janet started crying as Tony held Wade's body as he also started sobbing but then Hank saw something.

Hank: his chest...

Tony moved his shirt as his chest was glowing red before it seemed like it was pulsing a few times then Wade woke up gasping as Tony hugged him tightly before Bobbi also did and Janet was happy he was alive.

Thor: he returned from Valhalla.

Tony: don't you ever do that again.

Wade: what happened?

Steve: we won.

Tony: <sighs very drained> all right, yay! Hurray. Good job, guys. Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day.
