Chapter 24: Earth's Mightiest Heroes

Ironman and IronLad took off as they hit some Chitauri crawling on the building as Hawkeye shot a Chitauri off before he dodged a few blasts, he fired an arrow to a pilot making him crash into a Leviathan that had Hulk fight on top of it throwing Chitauri soldiers around before Thor landed and helped Hulk bashing several Chitauri soldiers as Hulk ripped an armor off the Leviathan and stab it with it as Thor stab it deeper with a lightning strike making the Leviathan crash inside Grand Central Station.

Hulk and Thor stood next to each other catching their breathes before Hulk just punched Thor away.

On the top of the tower, Selvig woke up as the mind control cleared as he looked at the invasion as he saw some green magic shoot down the Chitauri ships as he saw Amora using her magic to shoot them down.

The National Guard arrived as they fired at the Chitauri while still leading the civilians down into the subway for safety.

Cap was holding a spear away from his face as Wasp arrived and blasted the Chitauri away as she helped him up.

Hawkeye: <radio> Captain, the bank on 42nd past Madison. They've cornered a lot of civilians in there.

Cap; we're on it.

Some Chitauri troops held a lot of civilians in place as the captain activated a grenade. Cap jumped in as he threw his shield knocking the captain down as two Chitauri soldiers turned to shot at him but Wasp appeared between them and hit them down before shrinking and making them blast each other.

Cap; everyone! Clear out!

A third soldier grabbed Cap and ripped his mask off as the captain fired at him but Cap boosted himself over the soldier making the captain shot at it as the beeping got rapid. The captain went to grab it as Cap grabbed his shield and Wasp as the grenade went off and it sent him outside as he landed on top of a car very painfully as Wasp grew back to normal hitting the ground as she moaned in pain.

They both got up slowly as the civilians were evacuated as Wasp held her side in pain.

Helicarrier Bridge

Councilwoman: <screen> Director Fury, the Council had made a decision.

Fury: I recognize the Council had made a decision. But given that it's a stupid-ass decision, I have elected to ignore it.

Councilman: <screen> Director, you're closer than any of our subs. You scramble that jet...

Fury: that is the island of Manhattan, Councilman. Until I'm certain my team can't hold it, I will not order a nuclear strike against a civilian population.

Councilman: <screen> if we don't hold them here, we lose everything.

Fury: if I send that bird out, we already have. <shuts off transmission>

New York City

Widow was still flying as some shots missed her as she looked back and saw Loki.

Widow: oh, you.

Loki kept on firing more shots at Widow.

Widow: Hawkeye!

Hawkeye: Nat, what are you doing?

Widow: a little help?

Hawkeye readies an arrow as he aimed it.

Hawkeye: I got him.

Hawkeye fired an arrow that was going to hit Loki but Loki caught it before it could penetrate his skull. He looked at it then back but then it blew up sending him towards the tower as Amora dodged Loki's body and Loki lost his helmet. Widow jumped off the Chitauri and landed on the very top of the tower where the Tesseract machine is at.
