~~Storm_Prince~~
Annabeth POV:
I hacked through monsters, the fury boiling in my gut driving me forward. I imagined every monster with the face of Zoë Nightshade, the girl that had bewitched my beloved Percy and taken him as a lover, further away from me than ever.
My drakon bone sword shone with monster dust, and it trembled with my rage that poured into it. It felt colder somehow, as if Damien, the giant who had given it to me, was disapproving of me and my choices.
Beside me, Jason summoned his 4th lightning bolt in a row. At first, he had only turned pale, but now, he could barely stand. Suddenly, the sound of monsters being hacked away came from behind me. I swirled around and found myself face-to-face with Storm.
I turned away with a scowl. This stupid girl had torn me away from my Seaweed Brain, allowing him to kiss Zoë for longer. Now, though, I couldn't be picky about that. It was still better than nothing, having someone else to fight alongside while Jason recovered from the use of so much energy.
Storm shrugged behind me, her eyes bright with displeasure. "I came to help you. Not because I wanted to," she added, "but because Creation asked me to." I jerked my head up, hope burning in my chest.
He still cared about me! That MUST mean that I still meant something important to him. He cared about my safety. After all, I was better than Zoë. He was probably using her so she wouldn't leave the battle.
But in the end, he was going to beg me to join him in the army, to marry him and become the ruler of the universe along with him. And I, of course, would only listen until he fell on his knees begging.
As if reading my mind, Storm spoke again behind me. "Also, I was the only one available. He would've called Zoë to help you, as she is the 'best warrior and girlfriend in the army' to him, but she was busy fighting alongside him." My heart dropped like a stone in water.
I felt shame fly across my cheeks as the blood lit them up like stars in the night. How could I believe he would still care for me? The witch probably made such a strong potion, not even my love could break it.
Defeat crashed down on me. Maybe I should just move on. Just as I was thinking that, a monster brought his blade down. It raced down my leg, and I howled with pain, buckling sideways. Storm was in front of me in a flash, stabbing the monster in the shoulder and dragging her blade down to his waist. It disintegrated, and Storm turned to me, winded. "Are you okay?" She asked brusquely.
I nodded, my mind racing. Maybe I could use her to get into the Chaos cabin and get to Percy! I glanced at her. Her face was beaded with sweat, and her eyes shone with determination. She looked at me directly in the eyes before I could speak.
"Don't even think about it. Your friend tried the same, and not even he could do it. I'm not stupid. People have thought that, because I'm the youngest, they can use me. Well, they can't!" She cried, her voice as piercing as her dark blue eyes.
I turned away, slashing at the thick of battle. Maybe Storm was smarter than she looked, with her curly white hair and tan skin that shone flawlessly. I felt the familiar frustration return, and it pushed my sore muscles on, so accurately and quickly my sword seemed to melt into the breeze.
Suddenly, I froze, the hairs in the nape of my neck still and alert. I turned. Where Percy was fighting a tall, muscular, handsome man stood. His armor was cleared away from his abs, which shone in a six-pack and glistened with sweat as he swung his sword clear of its sheath at his waist.
He parried as Creation slammed his twin blades down on the longsword. As Creation held his swords out, ready for either an attack or to attack, the man swung. The blade sliced through the air, hissing like fire touching water.
It connected with Creation's arm, and he hissed in pain as golden ichor ran down his tan skin. I heard a scream rip the air, and, jerking around to see Zoë staring in horror at the cut. I glared at her, but she didn't notice. I turned back to see him slam the butts of his blades down on the man's hands, causing him to drop his sword, and giving Creation time to attack. He lunged, low and quick, racing along the earth as it groped for his fingers.
Finally, he hit like a snake, digging both blades down on the man's shoulders. He screamed, a sound like a thousand wolves howling at once. He started to fade into black mist, crouching as he continued to hiss in pain.
He disintegrated slowly, without a sound after his scream of pain. Creation turned to us. Snapping his fingers, the rest of the monsters fell to the ground, clutching their guts. They disintegrated before saying anything.
"Well, I did the best job here!" A voice, filled with arrogance, ran across the ears of everybody I the battlefield. I turned to see Nick. His brown hair, which I had once found attractive, now shone like a rat's pelt. Creation snorted with laughter, and the rest of the campers echoed it, leaving Nick shuffling his feet in embarrassment.
