Percy's POV:
I ran. Tears streamed down my face as I moved quickly through the forest, my only thought to get out of the place that had made fun of me until I snapped.
*Flashback* Two weeks ago...
I sat at the Poseidon Table at Camp Half-Blood, eating my blue pancakes. Suddenly, a scream filled with terror filled my ears. My head snapped in the direction of Thalia's Tree, where a boy around 17 stood, running from a hellhound. I stood up, already running towards the danger. I reached the kid just in time.
The hellhound pounced, and just as it did, I swung Riptide through the air, slicing neatly through the hellhound's rib cage. It evaporated immediately, turning into golden dust. The kid turned to me, looking grateful for a split second before he snatched Riptide from my hands, then kicked my legs out from underneath me.
Everybody was mostly surrounding us now, looking curious about the new camper and why their hero was on the ground.
Just then, Annabeth and Chiron came over to us. The campers moved out of the way respectably, giving them all the time in the world to see the situation unfold entirely.
Annabeth went over to the new camper, inspecting him with concern. "Are you all right?" She asked, her voice filled with pride and amazement. "I'm fine, beautiful. Even though I had to save his sorry ass, I was able to save us both." He said.
He didn't notice the way I glared at him. Just then, 'his' sword disappeared. I smirked quietly, the ADHD part of my brain said, I wonder if he thought it said, 'I'm just an ordinary sword.' Just then, as the campers began to wander away, Annabeth turned to me.
I was surprised to see her beautiful gray eyes filled with disappointment. "Percy, I thought you would try to work harder. I'm very disappointed in you." Then she turned around, guiding the new kid to the infirmary.
A few weeks have passed. Did I mention they were like living through hell? Nick Water, which turned out to be the kid's name, started to take away all my friends, including the seven. By the end of the second month, I only had Nico, Thalia, and Will left. Annabeth had been the first captive taken under Nick's control.
The little punk had also been claimed by Aphrodite. Oh joy. That meant he had charmspeak. But what happened now was the worst. I was eating lunch, alone at the Poseidon Table, when Chiron clopped his hoove for silence.
His voice carried steadily through the mess hall. And the words that came out of his mouth left me scarred forever. "Nick Water, our best camper, has evidence that Percy Jackson conspired along with the enemy." The gasp that followed was as loud as a thousand balloons popping at once.
Chiron looked at me. "Perceus Jackson, I, Chiron, Leader of Camp Half-Blood, hereby exile you forever from the Camp of the Children of the Gods of Olympus."
Just then, Zeus flashed along with the council of the gods. "Perseus Jackson, I hereby exile you from both CHB and CJ." Just then, Poseidon stepped forward. "I, Poseidon, God of the Sea, hereby disown you, Percy."
He held out his hand, and Riptide flew into it. I ran. I ran all the way to the Poseidon Cabin, Cabin 3, and packed all my stuff. I passed the armory, snatched up the nearest sword I could find, and ran out of the protection of CHB, out of the only place I ever had called home, away from my beloved Annabeth.
*Flashback Ends*
Just then, a portal opens in front of me, so suddenly I almost head-pitch right in, if not for my quick reflexes.
Out of the portal of swirling black energy stepped out a man. He was tall, with pitch-black hair and a robe that swirled with the cosmos. Black wings emerged from his wings, but the most startling thing were his eyes. They glinted with colours, swirls of greens and blues with gold and brown. They looked like a galaxy.
"Come with me, Perseus. " The man urged, his voice kind and rough. "I will fix your life." I was so depressed I followed him through the portal. I didn't even care anymore where it led.
