Chapter 21: Tensions

Tony: following's not really my style.

Steve: and you're all about style, aren't you?

Tony; of the people in this room, which one is, A, wearing a spangly outfit, and, B, not of use?

Bruce: Steve, tell me none of this smells a little funky to you.

Wade: Captain, the world is very different than what you were used to. Back then, the world had only one objective and that was to end the war. Now? Almost anyone will do anything to stop war.

Steve: just find the Cube.

Steve walks out as what they said got him thinking as he goes a different direction and Bobbi saw him go and followed him.

Tony; that's the guy my dad never shut up about? I'm wondering if they shouldn't have kept him on ice.

Bruce: huh. The guy's not wrong about Loki. He does have the jump on us.

Tony; what he's got is an Acme dynamite kit. It's going to blow up in his face. And I'm going to be there when it does.

Bruce: yeah. I'll read all about it.

Tony: uh-huh. Or you'll be suiting up with the rest of us.

Bruce: you see, I don't get a suit of armor. I'm exposed. Like a nerve. It's a nightmare.

Tony: I've got a cluster of shrapnel trying every second to crawl its way into my heart. This stops it. This little circle of light, it's part of me now, not just armor. It's a terrible privilege.

Bruce; but you can control it.

Tony; because I learned how.

Bruce: it's different.

Tony; hey, I read all about your accident. That much gamma exposure should have killed you.

Bruce: so you're saying that the Hulk... the other guy saved my life? That's nice. It's a nice sentiment. Saved it for what?

Tony: I guess we'll find out.

Bruce: you may not enjoy that.

Tony; and you just might.

Hank: or he might not and you are just overstepping your boundaries.

Tony: this doesn't really concern you, Pym.

Hank: maybe it does. Your lack of safety is the exact reason Wade shouldn't be in your care.

Tony; what did you say?

Wade pulls Bruce back so he doesn't intervene as he knows something bad will happen. Janet came in when she heard what Tony said.

Hank: Wade got those powers of his because of someone targeting you and he got in the crossfire. Now you're putting him in an armor that will make him more of a target.

Tony: that armor is for his protection. His life was much worse before I took him in, he was abused by his mother.

Hank; and you being a constant target just keeps putting him danger.

Janet: Hank, calm down. Tony might not be the perfect role model but he's still a good dad. He makes time for Wade, takes interest on what Wade likes, and more importantly supports Wade.

Hank: Wade needs to grow up in an actual safe environment.

Tony: maybe Janet should consider being with someone who has a smaller ego because you are too prideful. If you actually pay attention to her, she will be beyond happy.
