Chapter 21: Tensions

Start from the beginning

Banner: he would have to hear the Cube to 120-million Kelvin just to break through the Coulomb barrier.

Hank: unless Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect.

Banner: well, if he could do that, he could achieve heavy ion fusion at any reactor on the planet.

Tony; finally, someone else who speaks English.

Cap: is that what just happened?

Tony: <shakes Banner's hand> it's good to meet you, Dr Banner. Your work on antielectron collisions is unparalleled. And I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage-monster.

Banner: thanks.

Tony: Pym.

Hank: Stark.

Fury: <walks in> Dr Banner and Dr Pym are only here to track the Cube. I was hoping you and your son might join them.

Pym: we can assure you, we don't need their help.

Cap; I would start with that stick of his. It may be magical, but it works an awful lot like a HYDRA weapon.

Fury; I don't know about that, but it is powered by the Cube. And I would like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys.

Thor; monkeys? I do not understand.

Cap: I do.

Tony: <makes a memeable face>

Cap: I understood that reference.

Janet: me too.

Wade: same here.

Tony: shall we play, Doctors?

Banner: this way, sir.

Tony, Banner, and Wade walked away.

Janet: <goes to Hank> hey. Please. Just play nice.

Hank: I will try. <leaves>

The one SHIELD Agent that was playing Galaga put it back on his screen and continued playing.

Main Lab

Tony changed to more comfortable clothing as Bruce had a scanner over Loki's scepter. Mostly on top of the Gem.

Bruce: the gamma readings are definitely consistent with Selvig's reports of the Tesseract. But it's going to take weeks to process.

Tony; if we bypass their mainframe and direct route to the Homer cluster we can clock this at around 600 teraflops.

Bruce: all I packed was a toothbrush.

Tony: you know, you should come by Star Tower sometime. Top ten floors, all R&D. You'd love it. It's Candy Land.

Hank: so says the one who thinks Candy Land is weapons.

Bruce: thanks, Tony, but the last time I was in New York, I kind of broke Harlem.

Wade: it wasn't even your fault, it was that other creature you were fighting.

Bruce: you really believe it?

Wade: yes. I mean, you will be very angry if you weren't left alone which the army didn't do. You saved Harlem, you are a hero.

Bruce: it doesn't feel like it.

Tony; I promise an stress-free environment. No tension, no surprises. <pokes Bruce's side with a small electric discharge>

Bruce: ow!
