It's raining heavily as I'm sat on the sidewalk, the flowers in my hand, completely drenched, as tears quickly mix with the raindrops on my skin.
How could he...?
After all these weeks, he had to leave me. Just like that.
My heart is throbbing inside my chest, following the rhythm of my sobs.
« Excuse me, could you tell me the direction of the theater ? » a rather trembling voice breaks through, interrupting my turmoil.
My eyes slowly meet hers. A nice old lady's.
Very bad timing, ma'am.
Despite my obvious state, I pushed away my thoughts, nodded and pointed to the right. I explained the way, trying not to be too confusing or too fast with my words.
As I'm talking, I can't help but look at her more precisely. She looks well kept honestly : she had some faint wrinkles surrounding her face, two small but very sweet eyes that seemed to shine despite the rain, as if she saw right through me, and two pale faltered cheeks.
Once I'm done, she bows her head slightly, thanking me twice as much as necessary.
But suddenly, as she began to walk in the direction I previously indicated, an uncertain and eerie feeling submerged me and kept getting more and more intense by each step she took.
W-What is happening...?
Her sweet image instantly switched to a bloodied mess, flashing when I blink.
A mix of confusion, slight panic and fear took over as I just managed to cry out :
- Miss, careful, you're going to-
BOOM.
My eyes widen and my jaw drops about six feet under the ground as chills ran down my spine. All my limbs begin to tremble, and my heart races at the bloody sight before me.
My hand somehow manages to meet my mouth, covering it from the shock. I'm going to be sick... I can already feel nausea rising.
No, no, no...
Fuck... She's- No, I have to call 911-
My hands shake badly while I try to get my phone and call emergency services.
Pick up...Pick up !
My mind is completely spiralling as panic takes over me. My legs wavers at my few steps back.
But an unknown hand meets my shoulder and startles me. I jump in spite of myself.
A male voice then accompanies the scare :
- Hey, are you alright ? That's quite the scene, isn't it ? I called 911 already, don't worry.
- Uh...thank you- It wasn't supposed to happen... She was here a second ago, I cry out, but I'm quickly cut by his voice again :
- Oh, I'm sure about that. No worries. But... I gotta ask what happened. I mean, I heard you tell her to step back and all. How did you see the car, it came so quickly ?
I try so hard to think and find the right words, focusing on the boy.
Don't look at the road, don't think about her, just respond.
And just like that, I managed to mumble out :
- I...I didn't, it was like uhm..
- An intuition ? He proposes.
- Yeah, exactly, that.
At my response, a warm smile displayed then on the guy's lips, which got me even more confused, an eyebrow raised at him.
- You should follow me. We have quite the stuff to talk about, he announces.
I frown. An old lady just got hit by a car and he just wants to...to walk ? To talk ?
- What ? What are you talking about...?
- That intuition of yours. Not the first time it happens, is it ?
Time stops for a second, just like my heart drops. I felt this so intensely only once...
How did he...
- How do you know...?
He pauses for an instant, a wider smile on now, almost a smirk.
And then...
- Just...an intuition.
