A/N: Hey! It's Divergent7. I feel like I haven't published a story in awhile, so I'm really excited to let you guys read this one. It's gonna be a three part story I think, so here is the first part!!!!

------------------------------------------------------

Have you ever wondered why people call it "A fresh blanket of snow?" Considering that snow is rather cold, isn't it kinda odd to be comparing it to a blanket. I don't know how people come up with this stuff, and why they can't understand that snow is far from being a blanket. Oh well, I'll just have to accept it.

Anyway, so that day a fresh blanket of snow had fallen over the forest, ready for someone like me to come and ruin it's untouched and oh so tempting state. That morning when I woke up and saw the newly fallen snow, it was hard to resist the temptation to go for a walk in the woods, so that's exactly what I did. My girlfriend, Samantha lives on the other side of the forest so I decided to take a short cut through the trees. I texted her before leaving, saying that I was coming over. She sent back a smiley face.

It was a peaceful morning. I listened to the creaking of swaying trees, the soft whistling of the wind, and the chirping of birds as I carried on my walk. I could hear kids laughing and screaming very faintly in the distance. It made me smile, I thought about the wonderful winters I spent with my brother and sister.

It wasn't freezing cold out, but the brisk air was making the tip of my nose, ears and fingers cold. It would have been smart to have worn a hat and maybe mittens, but I'm not one to dress appropriately for the weather. And anyhow, I was almost there.

I kept on walking, through a clearing in the trees. I picked up my knees trying to walk in the deep snow packed heavily on the ground. I stopped suddenly, seeing someone at the other end of the clearing. It was a girl, a very beautiful girl. She had black long silky hair, pale skin and was wearing nothing but a white dress. Her snow colored dress was lacy and stopped above her knees. She didn't even seem cold in the slightest bit, nor did she seem entirely human. She looked like an angel, although her gaze was one of a demon. Her body didn't seem solid, it was almost like I could make out the trees behind her.

Despite the fact that she seemed transparent, I couldn't shake the feeling that I knew her from somewhere. I recognized her sharp eyes, her only feature that was opaque. I also remember seeing her pitch black hair on another occasion, but I can't be sure that it belonged to her.

I could see her piercing steel grey eyes from all the way from where I was standing. Her eyes were emotionless and she looked bored. Actually, she didn't appear to be looking at me, she was looking past me. Her eyes darted around the forest in all directions before coming to land on me. When she did look at me, her stare was cold and numbing. She seemed to be focusing really hard on me, until her attention turned to the ground that lay beneath my feet. She squinted and cocked her head to the side.

That's when I heard the cracking of ice, and before I could comprehend what was happening, the ice under my boots broke apart. The ear splitting sound of thick ice rupturing filled the silent forest as water began to pool at my feet. I tried to take a step away from the opening starting to grow, but my weight caused the ice to break even more. I sank into the frigid black water, all the while, the beautiful girl just kept watching as I went in deeper. Half my body was under water being froze to the bone. I grabbed at the edge of the ice in vain, trying to keep my head from going under. Unfortunately, the pieces kept splitting apart and my fingers were too numb to hold on. My head slowly sunk beneath the surface of the water and I started to kick and punch everywhere.

The next thing that happened was unbelievable and demoralizing. The opening in the ice above my head closed up. It was once again iced over and thick as before. My heart, if it was still beating, should probably have stopped once I understood that I was submerged under freezing cold water with no way out. I pounded my fist against the ice with all my strength and shouted which filled my mouth with water. I could barely see the blurry and distorted form of the beautiful girl through the ice. Her footsteps didn't make a sound as she walked above my head.
