When your brother had returned with the rubbing alcohol and the medicinal gauze your mother requested, she placed it on the counter beside you as she kept cleaning your wound. "y/n, sweetheart, can you tell me what happened?" your mother asks, her voice quiet in an attempt to hide her true worry and focus on nurturing you. You couldn't bring yourself to talk, too in shock from how you got injured and the events before. Your mother saw the lack of reaction in your expression, her eyebrows furrowed in concern, "did...someone do this?"
You feel the emotional pain strike in your chest again, looking down. Even still after what occurred you didn't want to admit what had happened. You couldn't help but feel guilty about admitting the truth.
Ko seemed to catch onto the look on your face, confirming your mother's fears that someone was responsible, "it was him, wasn't it?" The question was more like a half-statement, like he already knew the answer. Of course your silence spoke volumes, and a sharp intake of breath from Ko confirmed he had his answer. "That little bastard..." Ko seethed, his footsteps stomping farther away.
"Ko don't you dare walk out that door!" Your mother spoke out quickly, firm and unmoving.
"He did this! It's written all over y/n's face!" Ko snapped, clearly furious as he stopped as commanded. You feel yourself shrink, more tears welling in your eyes.
"You don't know that for sure and I will not be having my son fight a kid younger than him like you're a delinquent!" your mother snapped back at your older brother. She turned her gaze back to you, her voice softening to a quieter level, "sweetheart just take deep breaths. We aren't mad, we're just going to make sure you are taken care of. After that, we...we can talk about what happened."
You inhale a shaky breath, wiping your tears with your good arm before nodding your head. Your mom gave your knee a reassuring squeeze, "good job kiddo. Let's get you fixed up."
It still hurts...
Present Time...
You appreciated lazy Sunday mornings. No worrying about school, getting to just sit at home and sleep in, scroll aimlessly on your phone for hours. Finally just a break from all of the chaos of being a high schooler. You currently were nestled up on the couch in your family's living room, the bright welcoming midday sun shining in through the glass doors leading out to your home's very small backyard (your mom mostly just used it to grow herbs anyway). The rhythm of sizzling from a hot pan and the inviting scent of omelets and rice just added to the peace of your morning as your mom cooked breakfast. She loved cooking breakfast for the family, going especially all out today since your older brother Ko was finally back in town from his first semester of college. You had a blanket covering your legs which were curled up to your chest. It was getting so cold out and it was already November. Sure winters in Japan weren't as harsh as some places, but that didn't mean it was perfect weather either. You couldn't wait for it to get warm again. You snap out of your inner thoughts at the rapid buzz of your phone vibrating in your hand. Your eyes lit up as you noticed the push notification on the top side of your phone, clicking to see the text laid out for you:
"Hey! Hope the cafe meetup went well with Kacchan! He didn't seem too mad after his hero license supplementary class yesterday, so I can guess your guys' talk was decent haha. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help as always!"
You smiled a little seeing Izuku's text. He had been keeping in contact with you since he got your number during the UA culture festival. He was busy, of course, being a UA student, but he still made sure to text or call you over the weekends. You both mostly just talked about his life at hero school, but the obvious common topic of discussion was Bakugo. You didn't want to seem too eager to know what Bakugo had been up to since you both broke up, but asking Izuku was just too tempting. The green haired geek was a know-it-all about a lot of things: heroes, quirk history and law, fitness (a new skill he obtained from UA), but especially Bakugo. The two had been childhood friends before Bakugo got his quirk and his massive ego along with it. Their friendship slowly corrupted into another abusive outlet for the angry explosive blonde to take out his frustrations. That's what you and Izuku had in common: trauma. Did that make you two necessarily close? Not quite, but you could confide in each other in a way most others can't and deep down that was a comfort to you. You did often wonder how Izuku could tolerate being in the same school, much less the same class, as the kid who bullied him all of middle school.
