Y/N's pov
You had rushed to the nearby convenience store by your middle school in a hurry. Lunch break only lasted 40 minutes so you had to be quick about this snack run. You had just made it back in time, ten minutes before lunch would end, sprinting down the halls and holding the grocery bag in your hand. You were worried about making sure you reached Katsuki in time since you knew how much he hated waiting. That afternoon a week ago, when he waited for you on the swings as you brought him the same snack and drink you just bought today, flashing in your mind. However, more than the fear of being a let down, you were excited to see that look of soft surprise on his face again. The way his brows would relax and his red eyes would release that tension seeing you go out of your way once again to bring him food. God, you could watch that rare expression forever. You honestly couldn't wait.
You finally burst into your homeroom class, the desks half full of students idly eating their lunches or chatting with their friends. Sure enough you saw your boyfriend in the back corner of the class, talking with his two other male friends. You had to admit you weren't particularly fond of those two. They just seemed so superficial and snarky, but if Katsuki hung out with them then you shouldn't say anything about them right?
You took a deep breath, ignoring the mild annoyance of your slightly sweaty uniform sticking to your skin from running, walking up to Katsuki with a smile, "hey! Sorry I'm late! I ran to the convenience store again and got you some stuff if you're still hungry."
The three boys stopped mid conversation, Katsuki's eyes staring into yours. However instead of that soft, taken aback look you were dreaming of seeing, this look was cold and...annoyed. His other two friends didn't look too fond of seeing you here either.
"Huh? Who the hell said I wanted anything?" Katsuki said unamused, his one arm propped against the back of his chair as he leaned back.
You feel that excitement you felt moments ago completely sink to your toes, your smile fading slightly, "I just...happened to be over there and thought I'd grab something-"
"I never fucking said I wanted anything, now piss off," Katsuki interrupts like he couldn't care less about you, his eyes looking back to his friends who were now snickering under their breaths.
"But I grabbed the same stuff you liked last time. The onigiri and-" you try to say, feeling much more timid and out of place now.
"I said I didn't want anything! God, it's like your brain ran off and tripped down the fucking stairs when you left for lunch," Katsuki retorted, his lips a firm scowl. You clutched the bag in your hand tightly, disappointment and embarrassment making your heart curl in on itself like it wanted to hide away forever. Katsuki continued, "How about you pay fucking attention for once, then you wouldn't have had to waste your time running around in the hot fucking sun."
One of his friends finally pitched in, a smirk on his mocking face, "dude, they look like they ran a marathon. They're all sweaty and shit." The other friend laughed and pretended to be grossed out, only making you more self-conscious.
Katsuki just scoffed, rolling his eyes and turning his body away from you, "yeah, maybe try using the few minutes you got left of lunch to take a damn shower. You smell."
Another jab to your already wounded ego. You were just trying to do something nice for him, why was he being like this? It was like he was two sided all of the time: one side tame and considerate, the other side rude and venomous. Did he not care that your feelings were hurt or that his friends were making fun of you? Did he just forget that time you brought him snacks just like this? How were things so different now that one day you're a good person who cares for their boyfriend and the next you're a nuisance? A pest, an embarrassment.
