"How am I supposed to remember these many gowns when you display them to me in one single sitting?"

My two personal maids, May and Sue look at each other and then smile at me nervously. They look sweet as sisters with their maid bandanas on top of their heads. "We're supposed to introduce you to them today, madam. By far, which one do you like the best?"

"I like this one I'm wearing." I say. It came out so flat in the end.

"No- no, other than the one you're wearing." Sue flips her light brown bangs behind her ear as she smiles nervously at me. I think she's too nervous---she fiddles with her fingers most of the time while May does all of the talking. I think she's a bit shy. While the raven-haired called- May, has a habit of smiling innocently at me whenever she speaks. She looks like my mother, smiling kindly at me..

Well, before she fled to Germany..

"I- I don't know, but I like this peach color dress." I point to the one closest to me on the bed. May nods.

"If you like that certain color we can provide more for you when you're preparing and getting dressed for important events."

"So I'm done?"

They look at each other again. "Alright. Just this time. We'll just have a short brief of what you have to know by tomorrow. But I think we'll s-start early in the m-morning--if that's okay." Sue replies in her feminine, soft voice.

The lesson went by in a breeze because I have a hard time remembering the categories.

There are around four. Daily dresses, ball events, what to wear when meeting the elders and what to dress with during important events. I don't think there are anymore. And more or less that's what I remember for today. The maids leave quickly and I sigh in stress and relief that today is over.

I am about to sit down in front of my mirror head-dresser when Barrbattos opens the door all of a sudden as I stagger and almost fall to the ground-- but I regain my balance, slightly pissed at him as I glare at him.

"Dinner's been cancelled." He states blatantly.

"What?" I speak a little too loud as he is taken aback. "Why is dinner cancelled? Wh- what am I supposed to eat for dinner then?" I am getting hungry.

"There's a ball after this, and you're coming with me."

"I thought the ball I'm supposed to attend isn't after I learned everything!" I ramble a little too quickly.

"That is the ball for the ceremonial ball." I hate how he accentuates the word.. "This one is the proper introduction of you and me to the public. Important people will come and they will ask for us, because I just arrived home."

"Oh." I say quietly in response. Feeling slightly too embarrassing to say anything else after a little too big outrage.

"Getting along with the people of the castle is the first important thing in adapting to a new life." He explains in a soft tone. Oh, so now he's playing nice with a sweet voice?

"What if I decide to sleep in early and stay in my bedroom?" I don't want to and am not ready to meet with a lot of people. They must be important people that must be pretty important from across the globe. Wait, he's the demon king! So that must mean there will be other demons who will attend the ball. Maybe werewolves too..

I shake my head. "I don't think that I want to go."

He smiles, a little too sinister this time. Contortingly creepy as hell, changing from his ordinarily handsome face. He enters as he closes the door behind him. "But you must. You see, I am the king and as long as you're tied to your duties and this castle, you must obey what I say or want you to do." I gulp in fear looking at this demon who doesn't budge with his smile. I'm currently not being able to look away from his glowing, amber eyes that seem to freeze my gaze. I'm frozen to the ground. He then sighs, "Look, if you don't want to go--"
