Chapter104: An Aussie day

Start from the beginning

It was half a truth, the team was gonna go to that restaurant that we went to. Have dinner before coming back to the hotel, but I wasn't planning to go.

Haylie chewed her bottom lip as she thought it over, "Are you sure you don't want to come with?"

Dramatically waving my finger over a puffed-out chest saying, "Cross my heart, cuz."

Rolling her eyes at me before sighing through her nose, "We'll try to be back before ten. Then we'll have the rest of the night to hang out and have a great time."

Nodding my head with a smile while asking for forgiveness for lying to my cousin and her best friend. But today was not the greatest day to have me socialize or have a good time.

Going out to parties, fun events, and making classic, unforgettable memories.... It's just not the same without him.

After having breakfast, I was heading to the sports stadium for practice. As I walked into the hotel's lobby, the cleaner guy who Julian got his drinks from almost bumped into me, "Sorry."

My hand instantly grabbed his arm before turning on my heel, "How much?"

Raising an eyebrow, confused by my question, "Excuse me, Miss?"

"Don't call me 'miss', we could easily be the same age," I said while almost dragging the guy towards the closest door. Shoving him inside this tiny room, closing the door before saying, "I can't order alcohol to my room, because I'm playing in the finals in two days. And if one player is caught drinking, the team will be disqualified. And Thunderdogs will win by default."

That's when the guy switched a light on from somewhere. Revealing that we were standing in a broom closet. "Miss, I wish I could help you -"

"I saw you dealing with one of Triton's players last night," I cut off any of the guy's attempt to play clueless. "And if anyone has to hear of that, despite the team being out of the tournament, they will still get banned. And I highly doubt that your manager knows about your little 'side hustle', does he?"

Finally, the penny had dropped when the guy understood, "Local drinks are two fifty and international are five eighty. I deliver the goods at seven, that's when most of the stuff is busy getting the dinner hour prepared."

Nodding in understanding before taking a piece of paper out of my pocket, "Can you get these for me?"

I took the paper before reading the list that I wrote down last night. A list of alcohol drinks that I've memorized over the years since my first drink. My throat tightened slightly when I thought back to that day, especially who was with me.

Looking between the paper and me saying, "You part Australian or something?"

Shrugging my shoulders, saying calmly, "Pretending to be for the day."

Nodding his head with confusion written across his face. He looked over the list for a moment, calculating the numbers before saying, "It's gonna cost you at least two thousand, eight hundred, and twenty to get all of these."

Shrugging my shoulders casually while silently thanking the heavens that it's not out of my budget. Handing folded money into his hand, "This is the first half, I'm staying in the penthouse. And I'll give you extra, if the delivery comes at seven thirty and not seven."

"Why seven thirty?"

"Because I prefer it to be at seven thirty."

Also, that's the time Haylie and Cameron will be out of the hotel. And they won't know anything about this. The guy must be studying business, or he's related to someone who owns one, "Then you gotta give me an extra hundred."
