You were now outside the gymnasium, dumping the ice in a safe location where it can melt. You told Izuku you could handle the dumping since you could tell he was in a rush to get somewhere. He thanked you, made sure you both got each other's new contact info so he could reach out to you later, said goodbye and took off. Despite the chaos of the day, you were glad to get to see him again. A content smile faintly showed on your face as you kept discarding the ice, until finally you heard a voice behind you.
"Hey..."
You knew who it was without needing to see his face, your heart already shrinking just hearing that low tone. You turn around fully, facing Bakugo as he stands a few feet behind you with his hands in his pockets. He seemed more composed than earlier but still conflicted (much like you were). You almost hated how relaxed he looked, loathing how calm he seemed about the situation, meanwhile you were convinced your mind would explode with how badly you wanted to scream at him. But Izuku told you to give Bakugo a chance...so if you were doing this for anyone, you were doing it for him.
"Hey."
Bakugo's shoulders relaxed a little, probably expecting you to shut him out again but relieved you didn't. He kept looking at you, his voice annoyingly soft, "surprised you went to see the concert."
"My friends wanted to see it. I didn't know you'd be in it," you say with a monotone voice, turning back to continue dumping more ice.
"Right...yeah," Bakugo mumbles quietly, struggling to keep up this one sided conversation. Finally, after an awkward few seconds of silence, Bakugo takes a deep breath, "look...we need to talk."
"I don't think we need to talk," you respond back, still focused on your task instead of him.
You could sense the tinge of annoyance coming from him without even having to look at him, "okay fine, I'd like to talk."
"About?"
"About us, obviously," he says seriously, already getting sick of your dismissive tone. Despite that, he was keeping a calm attitude.
"And what between us has changed that you find so important to talk about?" you ask coldly, finally turning to face him.
"A lot," he says more firmly, his eyes showing how serious he was but not showing anger. He took another deep breath before continuing, "y/n, it's been a year since we last talked. I know we didn't leave things on the right foot and-"
"We?" you remark bitterly.
Bakugo grumbled a little, looking away, "alright fine, me. But I'm sick of burying this shit. I...want to talk it out."
You really wanted to tell him to just fuck off. You didn't want to give him the time of day, or the satisfaction of your attention, but Izuku's words kept floating in your brain: "he really has changed." A small hopeful part of you wanted to believe that. It didn't matter how much you wanted to forget your past, you'd never be able to forget, and maybe this was also your chance to show Bakugo just how hurt you really were.
"Fine. We can talk."
Bakugo's eyes lit up a little, surprised, but quickly composed himself, "alright yeah. There's some forest down there by the fountain and-"
"Nowhere private," you interrupt him firmly, crossing your arms, "I don't want us to be alone."
Bakugo seemed a little hurt by that but didn't argue. He nodded, "we can stand on the edge of the forest, somewhere people can still see us. I just don't want some extras interrupting."
You could see why he'd want that secluded environment, it was a serious talk after all, but the last thing you wanted was to be alone with him. You nodded in agreement with the compromise you both came up with, "alright. Let's go."
