Chapter 16 | FaceTime and Fluff

Start from the beginning

"I want to do this for you though," he smiles at me.

I check the time on the bottom of my monitor, I could take my lunch break when he comes. "Hmm, alright I'll allow it," I return his smile.

"Deal, now what would you like?"

I think for a second before telling him what I'd like to eat and he keeps the FaceTime call going. I try to get back to work until he gets here, but I admit that it's a little hard. I'm swooning at just the fact that he kept FaceTime on, so that he could talk to me and keep my company, saying that he wanted to make sure I was going to have a good day; let alone the fact that he's also going to get me food because I didn't get a chance to eat yet.

"Hey dude, I just gotta fill up my tank real quick, I'm low of gas, but I'll be right back," Blake reassures me with a smile.

"No problem, I'll be here," I feel my smile widen, and now I decide while he's not here, let me lock in and get some work done before I go for my lunch break.

Blake mutes on FaceTime and turns off his phone, pausing the screen. I get a good amount of work done before Blake appears again on my phone screen.

"I'll be there in about 10 minutes," he says, shutting his door and starting his car back up.

"Sounds good," I smile at him and continue to try to get as much work done as I can.

After what feels like only a few minutes, Blake tells me he's here so we end FaceTime, and I let my boss know I'm going for my lunch break. I didn't bother to change or anything, because he already knew what I looked like for today and I felt comfortable with him. I open the door for him, waiting, but he's already about to knock on the door, with a bag of food in one hand, and a small bouquet of flowers in the other. I almost immediately tear up, because reality sets in that he's here for me, to help me have a better day, and all of it just is a little too sweet for me that I think I'd get a cavity.

"Blake..." I say softly before going straight into his arms, feeling him wrap them around me and I take a deep inhale while laying my head on his chest.

Blake pushes me back slightly, putting the bag of food on the ground, handing me the bouquet, and places his hands on my cheeks. "I'll always be here for you," he kisses my forehead.

My heart feels so full. I lean into Blake's touch, and I feel my eyes water slightly. It's not even a bad cry; I have never felt this loved.

Blake looks slightly concerned, but wipes my cheek when a tear falls, "dude, is everything okay?"

I chuckle, also wiping at my eyes, "yeah, this is just really sweet. I've never felt this cared for. Thank you, for everything," I smile up at him.

This makes Blake smile lovingly, "of course. I'll do anything for you," and I believe him, despite us knowing each other for a few months. "Now let's get inside and start eating," he picks up the bag from the ground and opens my front door, gesturing for me to go first.

I head inside and go to my kitchen, looking for a vase to put the bouquet in, filling it up with water when I find one, and placing it on the coffee table where Blake is placing all of our food.

Blake's starts eating his food as I sit on the couch, "is there anything you want to watch?"

Blake rolls his eyes, "you can put on your show that I don't like."

I quirk one eyebrow at him, "the one you don't like?"

"You know, the one you had playing we were here?"

"It's funny, because I actually remember you being quite invested in it," I smirk, picking up the remote and putting the said show on.

"Absolutely not, I don't like garbage. But, I'm willing to watch it because I know you love it and I want you to have a better day." He says it so nonchalantly.

I glare at him for disrespecting such an amazing show, when I know he secretly likes it, but he's being stubborn. "Whatever you say, dork," I say with an eye roll, starting to eat my food.

Halfway through eating, and I notice we're inching towards one another. It's a gravitational pull that neither of us have control over, but I have no problem with it and Blake doesn't seem to either. We eventually meet in the middle of the couch, with me leaning into his side. He wraps his arm around my shoulders and I feel myself melting in the comfiness of his embrace. Blake makes small comments on the show - he's totally hooked by the way - and I smile up at him, admiring the man before me.

His gaze meets mine, "what's up dude?" He says with a tilt of his head and a lopsided smile.

"Nothing," I shake my head, a light blush forming on my cheeks and my smile widening.

Blake chuckles and kisses the top of my head, filling me with even more giddiness. I check the time and sigh, knowing that I'll have to get back to work very soon, but I'm willing to be selfish for a little longer.

"Wake me up in like 10 minutes," I say to Blake and slide a little further down on his chest, leaning more into him.

I can feel Blake's chest rumble with laughter, "no problem, babe."

What a nice day it turned out to be.
