I had just unpacked the final box. Phew. I stand up and dust my legs off, examining my new bedroom. My stomach starts to grumble, and I sigh knowing that I don't have any food in my new house yet.

I slip on a pair of sneakers, grab my keys off the counter, and grab my belongings to go to the grocery store. I'm definitely still new to being in Texas, so I use the gps to navigate my way to the closet market. I roll down the windows and take a deep breath of fresh air. A new job in a new state. This is definitely weird, and maybe going to be tough, but I'm excited! A new change could be nice.

Once I'm browsing through the aisles, I don't really know what to get. Maybe I should've thought this through beforehand, I mentally facepalm. Ramen never hurt anyone; it'll be good until I plan some meals out. I start grabbing some other random necessities like milk, bread, and eggs, when I start to feel a little tug on my right hand. My eyebrow raises when I don't notice anything out of the ordinary, just the silly ole' red string attached to my middle finger. I'm about to go back to shopping, when I watch the red string physically tug my hand backwards.

What the fuck?

My heart starts to skip a beat. Am I meeting my soulmate here? Why here? I'm excited, but also really nervous? What changes from here on out? Do I look good? I glance down at my outfit. Casual, not bad.

My hand being tugged a little harder this time jerks me out of my thoughts. I go towards the end of the aisle where my red string is pulling me when it splits into two separate red strings!?! I've never see this before, what the actual fuck is going on. Has anyone ever seen two red strings on one person? I peak around the corner where my hand is gravitating and the red string separates even more.

5 different strings??????????

My eyes follow to where the 5 red strings lead to. I see 5 guys standing around a cart. It doesn't really seem like any of them notice me, they are just joking around with each other and laughing loudly. That is, until, one guy at the end of the cart and closest to me locks eyes with me. He's one of the taller guys with short brown hair and brown eyes.

"Ay, Yumi? Everything cool?" The other taller male with brown messy hair, a black mask, and dark sunglasses asks.

I duck back into the aisle, my heart racing. What. The. Fuck. Listen, meeting a soulmate would have been cool and all, but learning I have 5? That's kind of a little too much to swallow, at least for the time being. I start to rush back to my cart. If they're my soulmates, I'm sure we'll cross paths again. Hopefully next time it won't be where I meet apparently 5 different soulmates and all at the same time!!!

"Hey! Come back!"

I tense from hearing a male call out from the end of the aisle that I was just at. I slowly turn around to see the male that I locked eyes with coming towards me, but he's not looking exactly at me, he's staring at the red string connected between us. Looking past him, I also see the 4 other males peering down the aisle at us, and finally looking between their fingers and my own.

I think I forgot to breathe. Is my heart still beating? Is this a dream? I pinch myself. Okay, nope, this is real life.

"Hey.. uh are you okay?" The male who was referred to as Yumi earlier asks.

He's stepping closer to me, but it also looks like the string is pulling us together. I instinctively take a step back and bump into my cart, but it didn't matter anyway because I was tugged back towards Yumi. The other guys also seem to have stepped deeper into the aisle, pulled by this magical string. I haven't responded yet, but I'm just looking back and forth between Yumi and these other guys.

"Hey, what's your name?"

I looked towards the voice and it was a guy with dark brown hair and a tattoo swirling around his arm. Yumi turns to look back at him, almost as if just noticing everyone else.

"Dude, I think this is my soulmate." Yumi says to the rest of the group, as he presents the hand with the red string attaching us, as if they could see it.

"I think we have a bit of a conundrum here ladies and gents," another one of the guys with lighter brown hair says with a silly Popeye-like voice.

"Oh brother," the shortest of the group with black hair speaks this time, while he throws his hands up in the air dramatically.

"Wait, what? What the fuck are you guys on about?" Yumi looks at the group confused, like he hasn't caught on yet.

The tallest member of the group just seems to be observing everything, not saying anything yet. I can't quite read his expression considering his whole face is blocked. The tattooed guy seems a little apprehensive, but interested in the whole situation. The other two seem just happy to be there.

I'm surprised when I feel my own hand touch Yumi's, the string pulling us completely together. He jerks his head back and looks between our hands and my face, also shocked. Everyone's eyes are staring intently at our now joined hands.

I'm starting to feel a little weird about all of the attention. I slowly separate mine and Yumi's hands, although I, weirdly enough, immediately miss the warmth of our intertwined hands.

"I think you guys are all my soulmates."

Just dropped the whole bombshell.
