A warm breeze rolled over Amelisia like a lullaby. The battle-scarred skies were now brushed with soft watercolors—roses, lilacs, milky way shimmer. And for the first time in weeks, the palace didn't echo with battle horns, war council debates, or Niko screaming about abstract jazz mines.
Instead... the castle gates opened wide.
"By royal decree of Queen Nyxarte Velzorynth," announced a soft-spoken, overly glittered herald, "every citizen is hereby legally obligated to relax. Please... go touch some grass."
The streets of Amelisia bloomed with festival energy—but like, the calm cozy kind, not the feral rave energy of chaos parades.
✨ Lavender cotton candy floated in the air.
🎨 Paint stations let kids draw on castle walls.
📚 Giant pillows scattered across the fields for storytime.
🛁 Even the fountains now flowed with glittery bathbomb water.
And Queen Nyxarte? She had shed her war robes, now wearing a star-patterned hoodie and floofy pastel pajama pants that read "Slay Then Nap." Her crown was casually tilted like a sunhat, and in her arms was...
"A marshmallow burrito," Niko whispered in awe, as she handed him a plate. "You... you remembered my festival food hyperfixation."
"I remember everything about you, my cosmic anxiety boy."
He blushed harder than a microwave running diagnostics.
They strolled through the meadows, hand in hand, surrounded by citizens laying on picnic blankets, playing music on flower-shaped instruments, or whispering poems to bees.
The trees shimmered. The sun swayed in a lazy ellipse. Even the stars took the day off, twinkling extra soft for no reason.
Nyxarte and Niko sat beneath a cloud tree—yes, a literal tree made of soft cloud limbs—and laid their heads together.
"This is nice," Nyx whispered.
"Too nice," Niko whispered back, suspiciously. "What if this is the part of the movie where everything goes silent before another attack?"
"Babe. No."
"But what if—"
"Niko. Shut up and drink your glitter smoothie."
He obeyed. Sparkles coated his lips. He smacked them loudly.
"Tastes like stardust and mango."
"Exactly."
Suddenly, a flock of jellyfish-shaped balloons floated by overhead, playing soft jazz. A kid chased after them giggling, then turned around and handed Nyxarte a crown made of glow worms.
"For our galaxy queen!"
She placed it atop her regular crown, now double-deckered with glow.
"Okay. Yeah. That's staying on forever."
Later, Nyxarte offered a microphone to the air. "Citizens of Amelisia! Today is not a celebration of war, but of peace. Go outside. Paint the sky. Nap in your favorite onesie. Kiss your loved one if you have one, or hug a pillow if you don't."
Niko whispered from the side: "Can I do both?"
"Do five. It's vacation day."
As the sun dipped low, everyone gathered around a floating lantern river. Each person lit a lantern with a wish, a dream, or a joke—and let it sail upward.
Nyxarte's lantern simply said:
"Let this world stay soft, at least until next Tuesday."
Niko's said:
"Please don't let the jellyfish balloons be carnivorous."
They lay on a hill at midnight, the sky above now dotted with aurora-like fireworks that spelled "CHILL" in slow, lazy arcs.
"We deserve this," Nyxarte whispered.
"You deserve this," Niko replied. "You saved a kingdom. You bled through the war and your uterus. You're a literal goddess."
"And you're my favorite emotional support himbo."
They kissed gently—no spice, no panic, no chaos. Just soft lips under soft skies.
