"Do you know each other?" Wooyoung asked, brows raised in confusion.
Beomgyu smiled, calm and collected. "Yeah, we do."
"We're schoolmates," Yeonjun followed up casually, though his voice betrayed a trace of nerves.
"Oh cool! Then we can totally be a trio," Wooyoung beamed. "One loud, one quiet, and one who clearly hasn't moved on."
Beomgyu chuckled at that. "Come in, guys."
Yeonjun headed to the living room while Wooyoung trailed after Beomgyu into the kitchen, wide-eyed. "Budd, your house is so neat! Like... not a sock out of place."
"Thanks, you flatter me," Beomgyu replied with a grin.
"You still haven't told me your name, though."
"I haven't?" Beomgyu blinked, pointing at himself in fake offense.
Wooyoung laughed. "You're cute. And yeah, you didn't."
"I-I'm Beomgyu."
"Pretty face with a pretty name."
Beomgyu simply smiled at the compliment, then gestured to the table. "Go ahead and eat. I prepared all this for you guys."
Wooyoung stared at the spread like it was heaven. "No way? Just for us? Oh, it is on!"
Meanwhile, Yeonjun sat in the living room quietly, his eyes trailing the two in the kitchen. Well—no. His eyes weren't on them. Just one of them.
Beomgyu.
His hair was longer now. His movements more mature, confident even. He had definitely grown.
But his face? Still familiar. Still captivating.
Yeonjun vaguely remembered the younger boy being a bit of a troublemaker in high school—always getting into fights, jokes too sharp for his own good. But now...
Maybe Beomgyu was always like this. And he just never noticed.
And why the hell was Wooyoung flirting with him?
"YEONJUN?! YEONJUN?!" Wooyoung's voice snapped him out of his daze. "COME HERE AND EAT THESE DELICIOUS FOODS THAT BEOMGYU MADE!"
Yeonjun blinked.
"H-huh?"
Beomgyu added with a smile, "Don't worry, hyung. There's no poison in the food."
Yeonjun stood up, muttering, "Right, yeah," and walked over. He took a bite and—well, damn.
"This is really good. You're a good cook, Gyu..." he mumbled, barely audible, but both Beomgyu and Wooyoung caught it.
Then Wooyoung's phone rang. He excused himself and stepped outside. Minutes later, he returned.
"Who was that?" Beomgyu and Yeonjun asked in sync, then glanced at each other and blushed.
"Oh, it's Ningning," Wooyoung replied, scratching his neck. "She wants me to pick her up. No cab available. I'll be right back.
"I literally forgot you still have a girlfriend" Wooyoung ignored Yeonjun's words and continue
"And you," Wooyoung pointed at Yeonjun, "stay here. I'll bring her here. Looks like we're gonna be a quadro now!"
And with that, he left before either of them could protest.
Silence fell like fog.
Yeonjun quietly kept eating. Beomgyu sat down beside him, unsure where to look. Until finally—
"How's life going, hyung?" he asked.
Yeonjun looked up, then gave a small laugh. "I don't really know. A mix of fine and not fine."
Beomgyu chuckled. "Wooyoung told me your girlfriend broke up with you—wait, that's personal. I'm sorry—"
Yeonjun reached out and patted his head.
"That happened when I was 22. I'm turning 26 now. I've moved on. Wooyoung hasn't."
Beomgyu laughed softly. "Makes sense."
After eating, Yeonjun stood to wash the dishes.
Beomgyu stopped him. "I'll do it. You go sit."
Yeonjun smiled. "You cooked. Let me at least do this. You clean the table?"
Beomgyu sighed. "Fine..."
As he turned toward the table, he suddenly tripped—his foot hitting a cup he hadn't even seen. He stumbled forward, instinctively grabbing the nearest thing for balance.
Yeonjun's back.
And then—
Crash.
They landed on the kitchen floor, Yeonjun on top of Beomgyu.
Their faces—mere inches apart.
"You okay?" Yeonjun asked softly, not moving.
"Still clumsy, huh?" Beomgyu smiled at Yeonjun's words
They both laughed. Still not moving.
And then—SLAM.
The front door burst open.
"Beomgyu, we're here!" Jungwon's voice rang.
"I brought snacks and ice cream for your next breakdown," Soobin called.
They walked into the kitchen—Soobin leading, chips and ice cream in hand—only to freeze.
Soobin dropped the snacks his and Jungwon's jaw dropped. Giselle, who was vlogging with her camera, looked confused.
"What's going on? Did you see a rat—wait, I'm recording—"
She turned the camera and saw them.
A stranger hovering over Beomgyu.
Giselle dropped her camera.
Jungwon screamed.
Soobin yelled, "WHAT THE FUCK?! BEOMGYU, WHAT IS THIS RASCAL DOING TO YOU?!"
Jungwon shrieked again, "FUCKING?! IN THE KITCHEN?!"
Giselle clutched her chest. "So gross, Gyu. Really. I expected better."
Beomgyu blinked, finally snapped out of the moment. He pushed Yeonjun off.
Yeonjun stood quickly, facing away.
Giselle grabbed her fallen camera again, smirking. "I'm so not deleting this."
"It's not what it looks like!" Beomgyu protested.
Soobin cut him off dramatically, "Then what is it, huh? You told us every detail of your love life and then kept this guy a secret?!"
Jungwon stormed up to Yeonjun and turned him around. "Who even are you?! One-night stand? Random club hookup?!"
And then—
Jungwon froze. His face fell.
Soobin's jaw dropped again.
Giselle? who just picked her camera, still recording —Dropped her camera. Again.
"Yeonjun-hyung?!" Sunghoon's voice echoed from the hallway as sunoo was trying to caught up.
Sunoo gasped. "Wait, THE Yeonjun?!"
Yeonjun, suddenly surrounded, just gave a small, helpless smile.
Beomgyu covered his face with both hands.
"Great," he mumbled. "Now everyone knows."
