Part 2: Chapter 9

Y/N POV

"Good morning Y/N!", I turned to see Akane approach me outside of the school gates. She had the biggest smile on her face, which let me know she was either plotting something I'd probably be unwilling to be up for , or she knew something I didn't.  "Hey", I smiled at her, "You seem like in a good mood.. especially for this early in the morning." I walked towards her as I gripped onto my school bag tighter throwing it over my shoulder. "You need to follow me", reaching for my hand she began to pull me behind her toward the school, "I got here early to make sure before you did."

"Make sure about what?", I asked with a confused look as she turned to look at me. "You'll see," is all she let me onto. "How early did you get here exactly?", I wouldn't doubt if she was willing to even maybe camp all night outside the school gates. She is that bold that she wouldn't even hesitate to do so. "Early enough", she simply replied. As we made our way through the halls to wherever it was that Akane was dragging me towards; I spotted Yuto in the distance hanging around his group of friends. Thankfully he didn't spot me.

"Hey, did you by chance go to that karaoke bar near Shibuya on Monday?", I began, "You know, the one where all the students from here like to go to after classes?" I highly doubted that Akane would've gone because if she did she wouldn't have hesitated to let me know who was there, and what happened. "Karaoke bar? Oh yeah, I didn't go.", she began, "I got invited by Himino, but I was busy setting up the practice schedule with Coach Matsuo and Yumi— she's the captain of the volleyball team." She stopped and turned to me, "Did someone invite you to go?"

"Oh, uh.. yeah", I rubbed the back of my neck— something I do when I'm nervous or anxious. "Yuto, actually invited me." Her face lit up with the most annoying smirk possible, "Yuto huh?" She proceeded to lightly nudge me. "You know I hear people go to that karaoke bar to also hookup", she continued, "Yuto probably wanted to try out his luck.", she raised her eyebrows repeatedly. "What? No", I raised my hands in front of her signaling no, "Yuto just asked if I wanted to hang out with them, and of course I couldn't anyway I — ", Akane began to laugh and grabbed me by my arm, "I'm just joking with you," she said, "There's a strict rule against hooking up in that karaoke bar. Apparently it was a big issue back then," I looked at her raising an eyebrow, "Way before you and I were in high school of course ... probably even before we were born at that." She shrugged her shoulders to signal a "Who knows?"

"Yuto is a good guy," she kept speaking, "I'm glad that he's being kind to you, but that's just who he is. Really." She smiled at me and I slightly smiled back. "Yeah, he is a good person." I said as we kept walking. "Anyway, classes will begin soon, are we almost to wherever it is you're dragging me to?" She turned to look at me and just winked. "Don't worry, it's justified if you're late", I looked at her serious, "No, it's not okay, you know how strict Mrs. Tamura can be." I was about to tell her about the times I've seen her put students on the spotlight for being a few seconds late. Definitely don't want to go through that at all. I'd gladly move again then.

"Mrs. Tamura doesn't matter right now," she chimes in breaking my thoughts off, "Especially when she will know who is the new member on the volleyball team!" She exclaimed holding out her arms and hands into a Tah-dah! I followed her movements to see that the sports teams bulletin board had been recently updated with announcements of the new members for each team respectively. "What?", I walked towards the board to get a better look at the announcement paper. I scanned the paper slowly enough to make sure I read my name correctly, and there it was Shinazugawa Y/N. My eyes widened a bit at the realization of what was happening. "I made it? I made it on the team?", I softly said to myself but loud enough for Akane to hear.

She approached me and put her hand over my left shoulder, "Welcome to the volleyball team, Y/N." I felt beyond happy that I couldn't help but turn around and give a hug to Akane. "I made it!!", I yelled screaming with delight. She also screamed with joy for me, "I told you there was nothing to worry about! You practically had it in the bag!" We hopped around still hugging each other and laughing of joy. Which was cut short by the sound of the bell to signal that I was late and would probably have to move away from Tokyo.
