Hello, hello, helloo everyone! I'm finally back to continue writing The Ties that Bind. I apologize for being away, but now without further ado let's continue. I hope you all enjoy this update. ❤️
Chapter 6
2005
It was summer, the weather felt like a scorching furnace with the sun being its main source of fuel. I was leaning against Mikey's bike that was stationed in the school's area for students to leave their bicycles. "Ngh, this sun is killing me!" I sighed out loudly as the heat was becoming more and more unbearable to stand. Klank! The sound of cans dropping from the vending machines was loud enough to hear as the school grounds were almost empty by now. "Here, drink this."
I looked over to see Draken walking towards me with his arm reaching out, a soda drink in hand. My eyes immediately lit up at the sight, "Thank you, I'm literally melting over here", I gratefully said as I grabbed the can from his hand and popped it open ready to enjoy the cold beverage. "Oi, Mikey! Make a decision already and let's hurry it up." Draken called out to the blonde haired boy standing in front of the vending machine still deciding what to buy. "Mikey! Come on, we need to go! In case you forgot you both dragged me here to this school I don't even know.", I said as I put my left hand on my hip.
I had just finished my school day when Draken called me saying Mikey wanted to swing by and we'd go somewhere fun for a bit. I agreed because of the fun part, but this? No where near what I had pictured as "fun." The short boy began walking over with an orange flavored soda can in his hand, "What do you mean let's go? We're already where we need to be." he said as he drank from the can.
"What exactly are we doing here? I mean, really. I have to be home in an hour or so. My dad arrives home today from his work trip and I promised my mom I'd stop by the store to buy some cake." I said in a serious tone. "I am your senior you know? So you have to obey me." I crossed my arms to show him I meant it, "By what? Two years?", he replied in a snarky tone. I rolled my eyes at his remark and he only proceeded to ignore me. "Come on, I think the fun has already started without us."
I look at Draken and he just shrugs as he turns to follow his leader's steps. I sigh, "This is the last time I take Mikey's word for an invitation of fun." Following them with my soda can still in my hand. As we walked further into the school grounds, we came upon a field area which was mostly empty now. However, maybe some students were still hanging around doing after school sports activities. Voices could be heard in the distance as they made their way through the field. 'Wait, are there actually students still here? Oh god, we better not get caught by any teachers or staff that stayed around, too. I swear I will punch Mikey so hard.' I said to myself as we slowly approached the location where the sounds were coming from.
I stopped walking when I heard my phone go off showing an incoming call from my mother. "Hey mom, has dad called you yet to let you know when he's arriving?" I kept my pace up with the two boys as I talked with my mom. "Nope. I got stuck doing something after school with Akane, but it seems we're almost done here. I hope so." I said putting an emphasis at the end while looking at Mikey, who just smiled.
"No worries mom. I'll make sure to get everything to prepare dad a great dinner tonight." I was very excited to see him since this trip took him almost a month away from my mom and me. It sucked having him be away for so long, but it was something I'd grown to be accustomed with ever since I was little. I put my cell phone away into the pockets of the sweater I had tightened around my waist. Finishing up the soda can I was still holding onto, and spotted a nearby trash can to get rid of it. "Sounds like the fun is dying down huh, Mikey?" Draken said.
Takemichi's POV
'Nothing is going to change. I'm still weak no matter what.' I thought to myself as I stood there taking punch after punch being thrown at me by Kiyomasa. Yet I can't give up, not yet. With all the force I could muster up, I pushed him away from me. "No..I can't give up. Not yet, not until I can do all I can!" I could see my friends standing there looking confused. Wondering why their friend was still stubborn enough to keep the madness of this brutality going on. "Just give up, Takemichi!," yelled Akun, "You've proven to us how strong you are! Just give it up already!" I thought of what Naoto told me in the future. Of what happened to Hina.. to Y/N. All because of him.
