Could she just be overreacting?
She was always careful with the placement of her letters, and she remembered leaving them organized before she left for her mission.
Could someone have gone through her things while she was gone?
She immediately thought of her roommate, Ayla—the same one who had asked her for pain relievers before her mission.
Ayla was known for going through other trainees' things or just being nosy.
Ann was surprised she hadn't been kicked out, probably because a lot of girls preferred to confront Ayla instead of reporting her.
Could she have been the one? It would make sense.
Ann, nor the other trainees, could ever figure out why Ayla did this. She never had an exact answer—only excuses.
Ann put away her letter pouch in her drawer and wiped her face.
She looked around the room, specifically at Ayla's bunk. She wasn't there.
Another roommate walked in and headed to her bunk.
"Uh, hey, Laney," Ann called out.
Laney turned to Ann and walked up to her bed.
"Hey, Ann," she replied casually.
"Did you see anyone by my bunk while I was gone?" Ann asked, lowering her voice.
"Oh yeah, your mission. Congrats, by the way."
Ann gave her a slight smile. "Thanks."
"Well, uhm... I don't think so... I did see Ayla around your bunk a few times, though... Why?" Laney said.
"Nothing, just... my stuff was out of place," Ann mumbled.
"Wouldn't surprise me." Laney sighed. "Report her ass. She's been doing this shit for a while now. Pretty weird."
She grabbed something from her bed. "Anyways, see you around. Don't be late for training."
Laney walked off to her bunk.
Ann sat on her bed, thinking.
It was so obvious it was Ayla.
She got up and went to her next training session, still thinking about the situation.
Why did it matter so much?
Her letters from Tarah were personal and special to her.
She left the dorm room and walked down the hall.
At lunch, she'd write another letter to Tarah.
Deep in thought, Ann suddenly bumped into a hard object, stumbling back.
She looked up to see a broad chest in a gray shirt.
Looking further up, she saw Leon's usual stern face.
"Hey, watch where you're going," Leon said, glancing at Ann's startled face.
Recognizing him, Ann straightened up, forcing a professional demeanor.
"Hello, Leon. How are you?" Ann said, hiding her embarrassment.
Leon noticed her slightly troubled expression.
"Everything alright?" he asked, his tone laced with concern.
"Yeah," Ann mumbled.
"Yeah? Your face isn't saying the same thing."
"It's not really your business."
Leon gave her an intense stare. Ann stared back just as firmly.
A brief silence passed between them as agents moved around them in the hallway.
Ann finally sighed and took a deep breath.
"I found some of my personal things out of place. Most likely, someone went through them," she muttered.
"Do you have any idea who it was?" Leon asked, stepping closer.
"I might have an idea... Don't worry about it," Ann said, looking away.
Another pause.
Ann glanced back at Leon, who was still staring at her, concern in his eyes.
Should she tell him? Should he know?
Ann sighed.
"I think it might be a girl in my dorm room—Ayla," Ann muttered.
"Why would she do that?" Leon asked.
"I don't know. If I did, we wouldn't be having this conversation, would we? She's done it to other people too."
Ann stared at Leon for a moment.
"Look, I've got to get to training," she said, turning away and walking down the hallway.

12:24 PM
Around lunchtime, Leon walked to the cafeteria.
He wasn't very hungry, but he wanted to rest and recharge before his next task.
The agency was strict about lunch dismissal times, which were set for 12:30.
So, there were no trainees in the hallway. His footsteps echoed around the empty space.
As he walked, he heard soft whispers around the corner.
Passing by, he caught a hushed voice saying:
"I'll let you leave the agency. I can grant you permission and have you leave without anyone knowing."
Leon stopped.
Leave the agency? Depending on the program, trainees had different levels of access to leave. But this... this was suspicious.
Curious, Leon quietly approached the corner, listening.
"Don't worry, they're providing you the flight as well," the voice continued.
A female voice responded, but too softly for Leon to hear.
"Bring your reports on the agents as well, Ayla."
Leon's eyes widened.
Ayla?
Reports on agents? Why would a trainee be collecting intel on others?
Leon quietly stepped away and continued to the cafeteria, his mind racing.
He needed to tell Ann.
And Ayla needed to be reported.
