O' th' weeping willow - weep
befor sylphlike tantamount
th' danseuse be, o' sentry sleep
for tame aurous will gander, count
'pon th' impish owl - o' thief
th' belovèd pearl trapt b'neath,
ne'er granted sweet relief
petty miser grow wiltèd heath
to decorate funereal feast
th' danseuse rent - o' effigy.
Alas th' plainsong settled, ceased,
th' miser utters elegy:
"O' danseuse, beggar'd be
th' hapless extant sans esprit."
